US Vogue January 2011 : Natalie Portman by Peter Lindbergh

Though it is ridiculous how she wore the Rodarte-like dress, the cover is beautiful, confident and so elegant.

Natalie's ed is sheerly gorgeous but it looks a bit like a Bazaar ed.

im the only one who have the felling that her face dont belong to her body on the cover shot?

I havent been posting before but always enjoy reviews and since nobody have done one yet and I got the issue today here goes

Brief Encounter 14pgs
M Daria and actor David Strathairn
P:Peter Lindberg
S:Grace Goddington

Typically romantic and nostalgic Lindbergh style Cinematic spread in the desert.

Arch Rivals 8 pgs
M: Joan Smalls
P: Raymond Meier
S: Elissa Santisi

Studio shots of flats and wedges in technicolor against white. Nothing that special.

Spreading her Wings 6 pgs
Natalie Portman by Lindbergh styled by Tonne Goodman as has been posted already.

New Order 10 pgs
Feature on Rag & Bone, Sarah Burton, Olivier Theyskens and Nicholas Kirkwood.
P: Demarchlier
S: Camilla Nickerson

1 Group picture of Rag & Bone guys and their families with Jacquelyn Jabolenski and Joan Smalls

1 beautiful group shot of Lily D, Sasa, Patricia van der Vliet, Caroline T and Mirte Maas in Sarah Burtons McQueen collection

1 Shot of Jac and Theyskens

1 Close half page up of Sasha with a Kirkwood shoe in her hair. Nothing special

Tuscan Turnaround 10pgs
M: Lara Stone
P: Testino
S: Phyllis Posnick

Feature on a Tuscan retreat with Lara Stone in sleek, sport inspired outfits. 7 pictures of Lara Stone in total. Very nice and clean, outdoors and indoors shots.

So all in all a pretty okay issue. Nothing too exciting but I guess January is always a bit thin...

Is Lindbergh sent by Bazaar to sabotage Vogue? He just brought the dullness and blandness of editorials & covers that was in Bazaar before. Natalie`s editorial is boring. No shot is exceptional and the styling is one and the same.

I`m really excited for the reviews. Thanks charlotteA for it. Excited to see Brief Encounter with Daria (the name of the editorial is really familiar) and the one with Joan and LARA!

call me crazy but isn't a Lindbergh cover better than getting Testino every single month? No matter how good or bad the outcome might be, I'm glad there is more variety in US Vogue now.

Wow, the review sounds exciting. Can't wait to see the editorials of Daria and Lara. :)

Any new ads? Thanks charlotteA for the review! :flower:

The review sounds great! Can't wait to see Daria shot by Lindbergh ^_^
Thanks for the review!

I don't think it's crazy. I love to see a variety of contributors for Vogue US.

yeah! Jac in US Vogue! but the review doesn't sound too exciting, maybe because they always use the same models, Daria, Lara, Trentini.. but no Karlie this month hahaha

only ss11 ad is a marc jacobs one with Masha and Caroline.

and I forgot, there is one last ed with Raquel Z by David Sims. 6 pgs, styled by Tonne Goodman called She wears the PANTS. Typical Sims studio shots with Raquel wearing very wide legged pants. Decent, but kind of boring sine I've seen this same set up many times before.

I can do some snaps if somebody can upload them or tell me how to upload. Im a novice when it comes to this ^_^

I really can't believe I'm saying it, but wow, I'm pretty excited for a Vogue US issue :woot:

I must say I'm pretty excited about this issue. Thank you so much for your review, charlotteA. Snaps will be welcome.

^ I agree. After this month's weak issue, January looks promising. Great seeing Lindbergh shooting more covers. Their simple, yet classy.
