I looked through my copy again yesterday. It's funny to see that the article about new designers at old fashion houses is terribly outdated after only one year. Not a single one of the designers mentioned in that article work for those brands anymore. One brand is even closed.

^^^ I highly doubt he would be allowed to be glamorous and elevated if he’s shooting for US Vogue in 2020, Lola. His current efforts have been… very catalogue, to put it politely. And I’m sure that isn’t by choice.

I remember thinking fashion was going downhill starting around then. Even at that time, I thought the end of great fashion had already happened in 2006...

Looking back at this now, though, 2008 was really not that bad haha I had no clue how much worse things would actually get!! This all looks great in comparison to what we got in 2019!

I think it will still be...
The thing that I loved about Meisel for Us Vogue is that it often looked very different from what he did elsewhere.
And that’s for me the strength of a good EIC. It wasn’t necessarly groundbreaking but it was glamorous, touchable, simple and timeless. I can’t mistake Meisel for US Vogue with Meisel for W for example...

The sad thing is that he doesn’t shoot on location that much anymore.
2008 was a really great year for fashion. When you have good collections, it’s easier to do good magazines and campaigns...

Truth to be told, Meisel must have the lowest rate of bad covers for US Vogue.
