US Vogue September 2023 : Linda, Cindy, Christy & Naomi by Rafael Pavarotti

I'll never understand men's need to compare women, and discredit one in order to validate another. Pretty baffling, but I keep seeing it on British tabloids so maybe this is just a cultural thing I don't understand. .

Yes, Americans never went in for that Angelina Jolie vs Jennifer Aniston thing. Not for one moment. They shut that down straight away and never mentioned it again.

^ didn't she cheat quite publicly on some bf with one of those football guys no one remembers after the World Cup? (I might be wrong). The idea that she's any type of victim is laughable, she was always very much in command (from the Elite guy to staging her comeback via the 'brutally disfigured' story).. it's okay if things don't go your way sometimes but you're not exactly 'wronged' just because someone doesn't want to marry you, it's not 1790 anymore lol.
Yes! Fabien Barthez…From the 1998 French team that won the World Cup.

I know everyone is asking about her but since the documentary series does not feature her, she wasn't in George Mickael's video ''Freedom'', she wasn't either on the runway for that big finale for Versace in the 90's and so on. I don't miss her personally, she's nice but I thought she was a Chanel's top star but I did not see anything besides that.

I mean being the Chanel girl made her super famous but she was much more than that. In Europe she was maybe bigger than Christy, because she had the David Copperfield relationship at her prime and she was also a L’Oreal women.

Maybe it’s George Michael and that one Versace show the barometer of what a Supermodel was…

I don’t know, not American but you seem to know better. From my observations, it’s just not a well-integrated habit among common people.. but now that you mention it, I guess the ‘multiple choice test’ mindset (bipartisanship, country vs. country, woman vs. woman) is the empire’s most enduring legacy. :nailpolish:

What a surprise! I quite like this. Yes, it doesn't have the supermodel glamour that we're used to seeing them with but I do think this is somehow refreshing. And will you look at Linda? She looks so gorgeous! And if I may, even if I wanted this to be shot by Meisel, I highly doubt it is the case.

I also was bit stunned by Cindy in the middle but I think it has to do with Linda and Naomi not getting along, not following each other anymore on Instagram, and some rumors lol...

Any context about this? This has got me curious cause after reading this, I immediately opened my Instagram and checked their profiles and indeed, they unfollowed each other.

It's definitely Pavarotti. There is his trademark "graphic design is my passion" PS gradient background and the usual hideous retouching.
So amateur looking.
Yes, by Pavarotti indeed. I just remembered he tagged Linda on set in one of his Instagram stories like 2 months ago. No doubt for this cover shoot.

Finally something is done to Evangelista hair!!! The one who changed cuts and colours a lot lived for decades with the most boring natural hair

It just doesn't give Glamour and Amazement.

it gives ReaL Housewives Promo shoot.
Now that we talk about Glamour and the endless « branding » of models, none of those women have had Glamour as part of their branding…

‘Maybe Linda in a very Lisa Fonssagrives camp way but when I think of those women, none of them makes me think of Glamour. The only one who has maintained a glamorous persona is Stephanie Seymour but let’s be honest, she wasn’t the biggest of stars (despite being a fabulous print model).

I’ve never fallen for the nostalgia of the 90’s supermodels. It’s fun to look at but it’s quite a boring on-going story.

Had to take a double turn because I thought that was Kim K and not Naomi

It seems that every year American vogue’s September issue gets leaked before the weekend

It reminds me (a bit) of that cover UK Bazaar did in Dec 2011, when some supermodels were starring in a Duran Duran video - even back then, it felt tired (trendhunter.com)

They were everything to me during the 90s, but has any magazine done anything that interesting with them during the last twenty years or so? Especially when we're being told these are 'the greatest of all time'?

^^^Wow, big get for them! I did for a second thought Anna gave them this cover puely because they're supers. But not doubt there was probably conversations with Apple about this. If there's an ad in the magazine then for sure it's business as usual.

Not that I care of course!

The sort of comment that wouldn't be out of place on Twitter lol

True Linda is the only one who had an aura of timeless glamour on and off duty. Cindy and Naomi had a more contemporary look to them and defined the ideal at the time, Christy not at all but that something she may have deliberately worked against? But they were all versatile above all else.

EDIT: Styled by Edward, is this his first American Vogue cover? Photographer choice leaves me cold.

Tenor

I'm actually just legitimately surprised Anna gave them all a cover for the documentary. For some reason I thought it wouldn't happen.

I don't know if it's because I woke up not too long ago, but at first glance I thought Cindy was Helena.

Wait.. Edward styled this, so the story will not be exclusive just for US Vogue?

British Vogue has the same shoot, slightly different cover.

Styled by Edward? So will we get an outtake/alternative cover for UK? I have no idea how Vogue works anymore!
