Avedon himself may not have liked his own work for 80's Vogue... I can not get enough of his 80's covers

I pretty much agree with him, i despise the 90% of his Vogue covers, an odd one looks good, but it was mostly all insipid and forgettable. And not his own fault either, its sort of how i feel about Lindbergh's work for Harper's Bazaar in the last few years, we all know he is better than that crap they impose on him!

Avedon excelled at Bazaar, now those are the covers that still look beautiful, and captivating after all these years.

^ Seriously, and that doesnt even paint half of the picture since there is many missing, but some of those covers are just painfully bad!! Even the text is re-used sometimes. The worst thing is that not even when Meisel was shooting celeb covers it didnt come to any good, he is better off!

The Sept. 1996 cover is pure Kate and Amber both look beautiful, especially Kate. (I always thought Kate has never worked with Meisel 'cause I haven't seen a VI cover of her. )
