I have a handful of early 2000 Nippon VOGUEs edited by Hiromi Sogo. Does anyone know if/when she was replaced Mitsuko Watanabe? or was there an interim eic?

They've had some fantastic covers but that whole period of putting the Vogue masthead over the model's faces was pathetic. Some truely beautiful images were ruined by that foolish move.

darn, those covers with stam and natalia are so freaking gorgeous. stam covers are my favorite

The best Vogue ever. None compares to Japanese Vogue

WOW they really focused on TOP MODELS for 2013, it's insane how they god every single fashionable girls from the fashion world in one year!

^Agreed, great cover models. I liked many of the covers, especially both of Karlie's covers and Tao's, but also Sasha's and Daria's.

I like none. They are rather average or just bad, but thank you for posting!

I always love seeing all the covers together. I used to enjoy those polls that were opened by a tfs member to vote for the best cover of the year of each edition.

^ Yeah me too.

Some covers are nice (Lindsey's, Doutzen's, Sasha's and Daria's) and some covers are really quite ugly (Joan's, Kati's, Vanessa's), but overall this is one of the most boring Vogue editions. Why always the white background?

What I love most of their covers is the consistency of the photography style. Craig McDean 2004-2008 and I&V 2008-June 2009 are my absolute favorites. Giampaolo Sgura's are the worst.:yuk: The over-saturated colors and mediocre quality made 2012 a disappointing year and it just shows how mediocre of a photographer he is. The addition of Demarchelier and Janson raised the quality greatly. I would prefer that they would only use one photographer and the last two I mentioned would be wonderful.

Vogue Japan white background doesn't really bother me too much, its's kind of what their known for in terms of the editions of Vogue around the world. When done right it works, especially with the right photographer i.e not Sgura. I guess what frustrates me the most is the lack of Asian models they cover only about 6 in their history.

Craig McDean, I&V and M&M are the best things that ever happened for this magazine. Vogue Japan covers used to be striking and eye catching but now they're a complete mess. It just all went down hill by 2012, worsened by 2013 and.... now I don't even know anymore. Their covers nowadays are all about colors, being cheeky and cutesy, its like they're trying to attract teens. They should seriously stop using Sgura because he does nothing for this magazine and at the same time, they should use Demarchelier more often. His Edie and Cara covers are the covers I would love to see more often. It has this certain edginess that's striking.
