Valentino Pre-Fall 2026 Milan

Incredibly twee. Which is the opposite of Valentino. Yes, Garavani did these types of silhouettes back in the 60s and 70s but that’s when they had their time and place. Now… it’s once again costume like attire.

Admittedly, I forgot Michele was here at the house. My brain glitched and thought it was Demna for a second then Maria then realised I completely forgot. Even thought PPP was still there for a second before I opened the thread. But no, it’s Michele. Kering has done a bad job at just doing a designer switcharoonee carousel because I’m at a loss now as to who is where and genuinely find it hard enough to care who is also where now. I’m burnt out by it. Hard.

It’s kinda sad that his momentum is completely gone in just one year.

We are being bombard with hundreds of products every season but he has nothing new to offer. He thinks that just because he move to Valentino and keep doing what he does best then suddenly people will move from Gucci to Valentino, but reality is hitting him hard. No one is impressed by this and it’s not looking good for him.

I don’t know if he has it in him (or have enough time) to evolve into something else, but when his contract end, things will get messy.

AM's Valentino demise is a mix of so many different things:
- People are over with the thrift shop aesthetic
- To most people eyes his Valentino looks like Gucci redux and no one likes revamped
- His vision is not suitable to a brand which such defined aesthetic like Valentino. A Valentino customer would have never been caught alive wearing Vans sneakers with cats heads prints plastered all over...
- Too many looks, pieces and accessories that are not statement and fail to cater attention
- Most of his Gucci success was linked to entry level merchandise (Marmont belts / bags, Princeton mules). His Valentino merchandise is very demodé and lackluster
- The bags are a total disaster, he released more than 5 new designs and not a single one made an actual impact. The new Devain mini bag is giving Fendi embroidered Baguette with a V logo!

In the stores they are only selling lace stockings and kitten heels...it's a disaster! Not to mention the couture collection which flopped so hard.

Say what you want about Pharrell, but his LV feels totally honest. It doesn’t try to act smarter or deeper than what it really is − commercial luxury.
I really don’t get people who look down on Michael Kors or Tory Burch ("just some basic AmeRICaN SPortWEar, IrrElVant af/NYFW cheAPNess"), while Alessandro Michele keeps churning out the same basic sh*ts and somehow gets treated like he’s been the most influential, in-demand designer of the past decade lol. No dude, you’re basically a one-trick pony. You’re nowhere near Phoebe Philo, or even Demna, in terms of actual influence. Marc Jacobs was far more deserving of a heritage house than him.

I will always blame the styling for Michele's Valentino (and his decision to always cast unknown models, sorry to the unknowns out there) , though the pieces in the collection aren't anything excellent individually.
