Vanity Fair December 2025 : The Hollywood Issue by Theo Wenner

Wait...Jonathan Bailey & Glen Powell were on the last Hollywood issue from a few months ago, so why are they in another one? (This, I'm certainly not complaining about.)

Anyways, while I agree the cast of characters, these pics don't do much for me. Not the photographs, and not the fashions. A missed opportunity, IMO. But an article w/ Nicholas Ghesquiere will pique my interest...maybe.

And no footprints in the sand?

Given the nature of the Hollywood covers, there'll always be a lot to pick apart, from the choice of photographer to the faces chosen for the line-up - even who makes the first page and who gets relegated to the fold-out.

I can see they've tried to avoid some of those criticisms - new photographer, a choice of three different covers, but that just leads into a fresh set of things to find fault with.

Yes, I would always like to see something glamorous, and no, I can't see this one being a keeper in my collection on the basis of those cover shots... but I'm holding out for the contents.

Back in Sep, there was some general discussion in the Cover Rumor thread about men-only VF Hollywood covers, where I mentioned:

Taking a long view of the Hollywood issues, they have done this several times in the past (1996, 2003, 2007), it's just that nobody remembers those covers with an all-male line-up because they were on the boring side.

And there have been many more all-women Hollywood covers, including 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2017. Over the years, the ladies haven't been deprived of having their moment (I do prefer an all-women cover simply because of the potential for red carpet dresses).

If anything, it was when VF was under a female editor that we stopped seeing all-female Hollywood cover shots, so I wouldn't be too fast to slam the replacement for potentially returning to the older idea of alternating between different types of line-up.

Unsurprisingly, this portfolio also forms the covers of Vanity Fair France and España, but I get the feeling there may only be one cover on offer from these editions.

I love this! The first two covers are great, the third with Paul, MBJ and Austin is definitely the weakest.

I hope I receive the first cover. Even though I hate the shorts on Jeremy, I think that cover is so strong and clean, and the black, white and red colour palette works best on this one. They all look so handsome too. I wouldn’t mind the 2nd though, because Riz, Jonathan and Andrew are my crushes.

Love the new design. Feels very classic Vanity Fair. Overall there’s a feeling of the playfulness here that has been missing.

I get why everyone's wearing a black jacket but it's so clunky looking with the art direction and photography. A bit surprising to not see Josh O'Connor here considering how stacked his roles are.

Fun intro by Ottessa Moshfegh as expected, full edit is up on Vanity Fair's IG/website.

The Girls you have in Vogue, Elle. Bazzar, Glamour ect. Why its bad about "THE BOYS" ISSUE ? Its also impprtant to speak the same about boys as a girls. Just think about crisis of masculinity. I think its important to speak about this, wa are the same important as a mens we can cry we can wear short shorts we can wear pink witout called gay or ******. Im a 33 years old men from small village in south of Poland and i just remember how bad was growing up here was hard just becouse of that like what boys should wear think and do. I love girls, just chillout.
A man is literally on the cover of the biggest Vogue edition right now as well... (and looking a damn mess for that matter.)
I don't care about THE BOYS issue and the masculinity crisis or whatever and this is a forum so I will express just that ;)

LOVE IT all ❤️. If Bruce Weber is not working for Condé Nast anymore, I will definitely take Theo Wenner's Weber inspired effort. That said, I particularly love the second cover with the handsome boys sitting under the umbrella 😍 It is just all so fun and lifts my spirits.
