Versace F/W 10.11 Milan

^ The detail shots really show this collection up for what it is or isn't.
Some of this could be slapped together by fashion school year one....pieces of fabric with stuck on, cut-out shapes and bits of shiny paper.

most of it is ridiculously tacky. versace i just associate with tackiness at this point

This is one of the ugliest collections I've seen so far this season. I can't believe some of the raving.

The mix of metallics, bright colors and badly executed cut-outs look like bad pageant gowns.

You are right ! And what's even more sad was that Versace was coming back strong again as one of the top Italian luxury labels, but this knocks it back down . Way down .

The pants give me nightmares. I had one like that with flame-cut denim when I was eleven and had no idea!

a controversial collection...agree that the shoes r YUCK, some clothes didnt gay far enough on the futuristic theme and turned out TACKY, but all the dresses, ESPECIALLY all the white dresses r DIVINE.

Yeah, I love Versace and I still will, but I really hate the futurism thing. It's just so easy to go wrong wit that one :yuk: Some of the dresses are decent, I'm sure some stars will love them.

Cheap, tacky, uninspiring, and perhaps a bit gimmicky? Did Donatella even try with this one?
It's going be sad year for Versace unless this collection sells well, which I doubt.

Are you a regular costumer? For starters you are a man, so, are you well aware with regular woman costumers and their likes? How do you know this won't sell well? Perhaps an expert in fashion marketing?

It's funny to see people who anticipate the sells of a high brand..:innocent:

I hated this collection, after a long time I was supremely disappointed in Versace.

This is very reminiscent of Donatella's bad years at Versace that did not sell and at that time, Versace almost had to close its doors. If I am to believe an article I read about the dismissal of the former CEO from the brand, they are not doing as well as they should be due to Donatella's stubborness. Also, the collections got noticeable bad when the CEO resigned. Before his resignation, Donatella was on a roll with mature, sexy, and forward collections so unless the customer now wants tacky, almost vulgar, 2001-2004 Versace, they're going to have a problem. This collection is what Donatella had worked so hard to get away from the past few years.

Anyhow, I'm really disappointed, besides some of the coats and furs, this collection is terrible.

^ Oh gosh!

Why did Donatella and her team have to put out such a tacky collection? She was just getting away from all of that and proving her critics wrong......i just feel disheartened because i fell in love with what Donatella did with the brand from 2008 onwards......until now :(

She better be back on top form for the next collection!

Im so happy im not the only one
this collection was beyond ugly, tasteless and tacky
ugh'
some of the dresses really gave me a hard time...idk what Donatella was thinking but..ugh

nasty

well, clearly i'm in the minority here, but this collection stands out as one of the strongest -- if not THE best -- collection donatella has put on for the house of versace since the death of her brother. one of the measures of a truly powerful collection remains when any one piece from that collection has the ability to imbue the wearer and everything else that person may have on with the spirit of that collection. each of the pieces in this collection has that power and the dresses will find an audience from the girls in st. tropez to the vixens in sao paolo. dare i say it: this show of restraint -- and yes, this is versace restrained -- brings the sexiness to an entirely different level. it's more powerful because it's not as obvious as it was in spring -- and, let's face it, we don't go out in transparent dresses in the fall -- but it's just as impacting. also, i must say, some of the ring detail in those amazing minidressses reminded me of the stuff that made us all go crazy about that first christopher kane collection. one wonders if he had a behind-the-scenes role in this collection....:innocent:

Well it is known that Christopher Kane does consulting work for the main label Versace in addition to Versus .

Anyways, I'm still not convinced of this collection . The problem I have sometimes with Donatella's collections are that they beat an idea until it cannot bleed anymore . The collection with zippers and hearts was an example of that . Here she's just doing a surface version of 'futuristic' and not really exploring it past cliché metallic fabrics and geometric cut-outs . Yet she uses the same hair and makeup (which I love mind you) so it all feels very half-hearted and incomplete . It's not strong like I wish it would be .

If this collection is restrained, then I have no idea what these were .

The music was fantastic.

I seldom watch show videos- I usually just look at the pictures- but honestly, I gained a newfound appreciation for this collection after I watched it in motion. The daywear is still mostly a miss, but the dresses were cut so beautiful, and their details were fabulous.

Yes, but can you anticipate?

;)

^ I agree with you reese06 - this is a terrible collection - in fact this has to be the worst Versace collection ever! :yuk:

Everything about the designs is wrong and ugly - the style, the fabrics, the quality.

I can only imagine they were trying to cut costs and maximize profits?

Yes sadly it's an all time low for the house of Versace - the great Gianni must be turning in his grave!
