well, clearly i'm in the minority here, but this collection stands out as one of the strongest -- if not
THE best -- collection donatella has put on for the house of versace since the death of her brother. one of the measures of a truly powerful collection remains when any one piece from that collection has the ability to imbue the wearer and everything else that person may have on with the spirit of that collection. each of the pieces in this collection has that power and the dresses will find an audience from the girls in st. tropez to the vixens in sao paolo. dare i say it:
this show of restraint -- and yes, this is versace restrained -- brings the sexiness to an entirely different level. it's more powerful because it's not as obvious as it was in spring -- and, let's face it, we don't go out in transparent dresses in the fall -- but it's just as impacting. also, i must say, some of the ring detail in those amazing minidressses reminded me of the stuff that made us all go crazy about that first christopher kane collection. one wonders if he had a behind-the-scenes role in this collection....
