While the popular opinion is that the show is great, I am going to have to dissent. I am really surprised in the sea change amongst tfsers (or is it just fashion in general). To me, this collection is really reminiscent of Donatella's pre-rehab collections. I remember she was torn to shreds by folks here over the same work that she is being adored for now. IDK, I agree with the person that said it looked like trashy Escada. Its just bad.

the shoes are deliciously ****** though. I am sure they will end up on Gaga's feet very soon.
That made me laugh so hard, haha! I can totally see her wearing them!

It is weird, no? I think it mostly has to do with the way fashion has flowed in the 5 or 6 years since then. In the interim so much of what Versace has always stood for has returned to the forefront, whereas back then fashion was rejecting everything loud, aggressive and sexy.

It really is strange when you think about how the perception have changed, and how the expectations change along with it.

Really refreshing, young from what I've seen last seasons. SHE WENT BACK THE SOURCE!! which not a bad idea, some dresses didn't stop coming back season after season.
The shoes! oh, they're like prostitute barbie shoes, but beautiful/interesting at the same time.

It definitely harks back to collections of the early 2000's and yet the sexiness is actually somewhat toned down which is a subtle but positive difference.
I love the prints and the hair and makeup is awesome and super flattering.

Such a letdown after reading the description of remixed printed Alice in Wonderland. :(

I'm not sure which collection you guys are referring to when you say "early 2000s", because Donatella's collections back then were much more severe and flashy. There were much brighter colours i.e. SS2003 and SS 2004 and much less rigid shapes and more flowing goddess-y dresses i.e. SS 2000.
I see it as a much closer example to Gianni's work, like Fall 1997 and Spring 1996 (I think) where clothes were much stiffer and vividly shaped.

:heart::heart: this collection although I, too, think that the casting is a little bit odd. I, especially like the dresses. The colors are the best!

I love most of it!!!!The shoes except for the boots are incredible. Of course the gowns are the best part of this show but over all the collection was great, especially compared to what most of NYFW and Milan has offered.:woot:
