Versace S/S 2026 Milan

Laughable

To his credit, if we remove the first 9 looks, the collection in terms of pure clothes, is better than a lot of what Donatella has tried to do. The more somber, sober or muted colors looks are actually good.
The Art direction and the attitude are bad but in reality, I see more people wanting to wear these clothes than wanting to wear Donatella’s last collection.

We will have a report on the sales and I’m not sure the people who wants Donatella back were rushing to the stores to have a piece of her last collection either.

But it’s like MGC’s Dior or Michele at Valentino: referencing the archives or even elevating the vision are not enough. You needs also to embrace the spirit of the house. It’s not a sign of confidence. Confidence is putting yourself in danger, entering that world and embracing it.

Big segments of this are a disaster, because Warhol and barocco prints on a pile of Humana rags don't do justice to the legacy of Versace.

But I wan't to try the leather jacket in look 35 🤭

The only thing I like here. Not the shoes though. I hate the shoes of this show.

I keep seeing a lot of Nicolas Ghesquiere LV doing Gianni in this. I like it when Nicolas does a bit of Gianni as it's kind of fun, but it's weird seeing it here. The images also really highlight how unconvincing the male casting is. So forced and really looks like a slew of "friends of".

While far from a perfect debut, it's absolutely not worse than some of the stuff Donatella has shown during the last few years, which is what folks crying for her return and mentioning Gianni seem to be forgetting. Does anyone really think he would've loved all that went down the Versace runway ever since he passed, not to mention the H&M collab and the decision to sell the brand to MK?! Let's be real, a lot of the pieces here are closer to Gianni's earlier work and their old Versace Jeans Couture collections than Donatella's output has been for a while.
What Vitale has to fix is the way his clothes are shown: the styling, the casting (even though I wouldn't say it was entirely wrong), the location, the beauty choices - Versace is just not a brand that is credible in a "We are throwing a house party at a friend's place, drop by if you want" setting. Sure, make it believable for GenZ, but don't forget it's after all probably the Italian fashion brand with the most glamorous reputation and that needs to be represented.

Are the clothes necessarily bad? maybe. Is it a good tribute to early Versace? one could argue yes. Is it what anyone wanted? no.

Versace in 2025 is certified as a glamazon fashion house. Not even trying to serve glamazon in any way and turning the brand upside down with his first collection is just an ignorant decision committed to by everyone involved. I thought Prada Group was being too brash after the rumours came out, but now I understand why they may have wanted to get rid of Dario.
