Viktor & Rolf for H&M

I've been under a rock for too long . . . I dunno. I've tried to patronise H&M, but their clothes can only be worn once. Maybe I'm a Top Shop snob.

I wonder if the average H&M customer know who Victor & Rolf are? It's going to be interesting, I think.

Fashion Scoops: Lucky Star? ... Fashion's New Commander ... Ralph Moves In Paris? ...
LUCKY STAR?: Could the Material Girl be fast fashion’s next poster girl? How about designer? Speculation is building in Europe that Madonna is negotiating to appear in Hennes & Mauritz’s next major ad campaign — and perhaps do even more. The Swedish cheap-chic giant declined all comment Thursday. But getting Madge to star in its ads would be a coup for H&M, which has tried to boost its buzz factor recently with a series of high-profile designer tie-ups, including Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney. Amsterdam designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have been tapped to design a collection for H&M this fall. Sources said the Madonna negotiations in no way involve Viktor & Rolf’s effort. While Madonna has appeared in ads for Gap and Versace in the past, some suggested this time around her involvement could go beyond mere photographs, leading some to speculate she, too, could be designing clothes for H&M. In any case, H&M is expected to make an announcement concerning Madonna in the coming days, sources said.

Really?

I hadn't heard that.

I guess in her case, she is not designing per say. Maybe lending input??? to a group of designers and putting her name on it???

Although I am very curious to see what the collection looks like, I'm pretty sure it will disappoint. its not like they are going to do any of the obscure designs they do for their regular collection, or with even 10% of the effort or quality. While a few things I have seen from the other designers have been ok, none of these collaborations are worth any of the hype IMO, all they are is hype actually.

When do the mags usually show previews? November can't come fast enough...:(

I know. I'm dying to see what V&R bring out.

Sadly, I don't think I'd get to a H&M in time before it's all sold out.

Guess I'll have to keep my eye out on Ebay for stuff.

(while I'm not calling madonna a fashion designer by any means) A lot of designers do just that. Miuccia Prada doesn't draw or sew, or pin the clothes or anything, she just has a bunch of designers who work with her to translate the ideas she has into the physical clothes

I think this might be a good thing, but I've grown to not expecting too much from H&M collections. Stella and Lagerfeldt were both kind of personal letdowns for me, I expected more, we'll see how this goes! :)
I like the fact that Viktor & Rolf are "not that known" than the designers before, maybe it won't be such a freak show in the stores like it was with those two collections...

Right, that is what I thought would be the case.:D

i would be interested to see how madonnas designs look.. she has been a style icon for ages

imo topshop are such bad quality and fall apart so easy .. so i prefare too get things from h & m that are cheaper, more fashion forward and tend not to fall apart so easily .. but yeah you should give it a go
also if the adverage h & m customer doesnt know who they are thats good for us the customer as we wont need to fight for stuff like we did with stellas stuff.
