i Love the darker toned jewelry like that from the Victorian/Edwardian era.

Inter - Your necklace is a wonderful find! Do you happen to know what time period the piece is from?

Fashion fashoff - Very impressive collection you have. Hard to believe the flawless condition of your pieces when you consider when they were made - some of the jewelery could easily be mistaken for modern designs!

Hi! I am very excited, after a long time of just reading TFS, I was admitted and this is my first post! YAY!

Lately I have been very into costume jewelry and I found a great little place here in San Francisco that has a lot of wonderful vintage pieces.

I am very new to this and was wondering about the prices. I am considering a signed - limited - necklace from YSL from the 70's and the price is around $1000. Seems a lot to me.

How much is too much? How do you know what these pieces are really worth?

The way I purchase vintage is not in expectance of making money, etc. If it speaks to me and I cannot stop thinking about it, I generally purchase. However, I have been collecting for quite sometime and usually when I see a piece I love, I think of a price in my head that if it's more than that, I pass on it.

The Georg Scheid silver/enamel pin is absolutely beautiful. I really couldnt stop looking at it

yay:smile: That way you know you totally love it. I know it sounds cheesy, but when I know I really should buy a piece is when I finally own it and it feels like it was meant to be mine!
