Yes, she already left, it was with immediate effect. I thought it was already on the WWD and common knowledge.
It's also sad to see a loyal employee for 37 years leaving so unhappy and disgruntled, I knew the situation at Chanel was dire (despite the financial success) but could never imagine it was that bad.

We need to reread all Bruno Pavlovsky statements carefully, Chanel isn't the pink Barbie-land he describes.

Unlike menswear, womenswear has a TON of male observants with a wide range of reasons on why they're observing.. some more complex than others, from pretending to see fashion but only watching cause you're watching women (remember Trump in every front row back in the day? lol), to policing in some cultures (or socioeconomic sectors), to seeing it for its artistic value, as a case study, as a shelter from macho cultures, because it's fun and high speed, to more complex reasons like wishing you could wear all of it and wearing it, or abstaining and sometimes developing some some type of resentment on the people who have no choice but to wear womenswear because.. similar societies.

Well I think that they are just going to finish up/go through with what she already had in place and "designed" with the lead premiere or whoever is making decisions in the atelier making changes. I doubt Chanel would just scrap that, because haute couture is started months before.

well, it's clear then, she was fired not resigned, I mean what she expected after that jaw-dropping cruise show....Karl would fire her himself if he saw the collection. It's always about business.
Karl and Anna's longitivtiy somehow give ppl an illusion that one can stay forever if stay long enough without realising that both of them are, not just good at, but actually irreplaceable at their jobs. if you are not, the you will be replaced eventually.

About a year ago, I had such a discussion with a well-known stylist after Viard’s show in Los Angeles. This person was sure that Chanel wouldn’t change creative directors because of the money it was making under Viard. I’m not saying this has happened to Chanel, not at all. But money isn’t everything. With a house of Chanel’s status, its extraordinary story, the executives and owners ought to be equally — and maybe more — concerned with creativity and newness.

Reminds me of the conversations I had in this forum with PDFS. I was Cathy and PDFS was the stylist. But she/he convinced me that she will never leave and ended up thinking the same.

So she was fired, she didn’t resign after all. Who would resign when you are getting paid millions for a job like that and with such a status?

On another note, Cathy saying Sarah Burton could be a good option reminds me of when she loved Rafs Dior. Puhlease girl.

Chanel's steep raise of prices

This is only one leg of the three legged stool:

can push prices, but not pushing prices with worse quality. Some of the techniques they were using are outright shameful. I'm very pessimistic now, because I am certain that this is from the suits. If the suits (Leena) are not going, no one will make it work.

No it's not odd to want to stop or do something else, she's been with them since 1987, and tbh she not only survived in a studio where Karl was prone to fire people (hello Gilles Dufour), she gained his trust, so she fully deserves to have a break or a retirement, or another career, it's up to her. Hedi and Phoebe did it, VV can do it.

The matter of fact is, while she has been a great and loyal assistant, with a perfect knowledge of Karl's work, she isn't able to replicate Karl, and her own vision doesn't stand on its two feet.
She did her tenure perfectly loyally, but it's more a Guibourgé-filler era than the beginning of a new start.

i don't think ands its a fact that the project was not to replicate Karl from the first show she brought her idea reality into chanel that where mostly the commercials pieces KL did as well in between the crazy stuff ...KL now is celebrated but people where always hating on Kl chanel clothes besides the gloss of the set i always seen online and around me in industry complain about KL chanel but yet every house they have it at reference of some sort, the hate on VV is excessive and multitude of miss information and self fulling hypothesis.

she had a successful period even with not pleasing online fans but many women bought it and even more post KL with price increase that was only 6 %part of the gains of the total amount of 19% but than people will find a reason to discredit any fact of her success just to prove a point.

i find it pretty similar to the past burning woman at the stake because they were accused of being witches , by jealous neighbors or vindictive lovers etc etc

PPP , new MC Queen guy , Ancora guy, Kim at fendi , and many more male designer that do boring and crapy shows yet expert voices online don't speak as loudly distaste as much as they do now regarding VV

I just been thinking about this woman in general in fashion positions on all levels , knowing that the gay fashion mafia is alive and well even as newer generations get into the system /industry

Most of the furniture bought vintage / selected and redesigned by Hedi has origin in Dutch Haagse school it's a movement connected to brutalism, it's not basic b*tch its just not your taste perhaps.

Basic i department store brand future know and used by ever wannabe modern designer redone in a special color to fit the brand.
Loewe Bottega Gucci Ancora Prada current YSL and many more store design have seats and lights that are well know and easy to find in a Tachen design book available at every basic commercial middle of the road store. or book store.

Hedi at lest did a selection that is more obscure and basic to the every person

YSL hed id Art deco furniture for the average eye its might seem same sh*t but its not .

lol one can leave as well its not only one sides also at that level and it being Chanel it can be even just a gentleman's agreement, as rumours where a month ago reported by mss twidd article :that she wanted to take life more easy and not continue at Chanel she (VV) been there already 30 years at Chanel that's forever in fashion terms, it can be even they disagreed following here decision as to when wanting to leave is.... not so definite till she speaks out or Chanel.

Stop pretending Channel core clients that can spend 100K per season are all skinny 24 year olds !!!! stop ...its a house for rich women of mostly have average non model bodies and the clothes are forgiving as its the original cut of the founder ...is a boxy cut suit made from mens underwear fabric( jersey) for comfort or mens tweed reimagined etc she did things out of mobility for women to be modern that time ...

Not every brand need to be cool young or sexy and its just the facts actual clients are none of those 3 things often.

Honestly i have peace not knowing why she left or if she was fired which i doubt , it's a new chapter for Chanel and i hope they get the best person for it , as it will be more fun to watch and maybe even buy into it.

I do think some of her paragraphs look like written by a designer stan or are TikTok worthy.

Ideally no brand or creative output should be on auto pilot but as a Rolex or a Porsche have minimum updates to its core lines, its approached by the long time buyers and fans became and gold standard of some sort, for time less items that keep generating dreams of owning for generations, same for fashion brands some evolve harder and some have a slower pace it's that's why Hermes and Chanel bags kept resell value and helped these brands to sustain and grow during pandemic as the idea of fashion product as investment gained more traction.

In general when is ee so many comments and speculations i just find it self fulling and not facts based ...... KL had lots of haters also via Catty and many comments he should retire and stop and Chanel is old and cheap looking etc etc , now same people speak of lack of missing innovation because the sets are not grand anymore and they cant use one liners like Chanel went to space this season or Chanel supermarket .....the sets with lower environmental impact now are also done for less material waste ...sure they can design or select better low impact sets i agree ...... remember the iceberg and the rightfully drama regarding the shipping of it to paris .....these things we cant do any more for a good reason the climate cant handle all these pollution all these nuances are left out in the conversation because it boring and not cool or funny.

If one complains about Chanel prices its simple ...its not for them........they clearly have proven for years with KL and VV that they have wealthy clients willing to pay for whatever they make and sell. period !!

Rolls Royce and Bentley also uses parts from Volkswagen and BMW and ask high prices for there cars.

At Rolls Royce, they say “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.”

This Democratic idea of luxury is a woke idea not making for better products, because brands see potential to sell more and cut corners to produce more and sell more.

Luxury and fashion is not rational its emotional (these cost per wear and girl math and investment idea´s of betting on what items to buy so you know you can resell and retain some value is a concept that is promoted and accelerated with these social media influencers mentally for the masses.

Regarding poor quality and fragility of precious materials is also a big confused misconception , that if something is expensive does not mean its unbreakable or not fragile.

On quality ALL brands cut corners in production of there goods....news flash even Hermes on production of items cuts corners in order to protect margins and make profit, some do it more visible than others that is a fact!! and Chanel is not immune to this.
