Vivienne Westwood World

Harris Tweed crown

here:

The Harris Tweed collection of A/W 1987 celebrated Westwood's love affair with traditional English clothing and also her growing obsession with royalty. It was named after the woollen fabric hand-woven in the Western Isles of Scotland. The crown is worn by Sarah Stockbridge, Westwood's muse. Westwood said: 'It's comic, but terribly chic. I like to keep it on when I'm having dinner. It's so English.'

That blue dress is lovely indeed.

I am so glad I found this thread - I love Westwood! Those pics are great - we had a huge retrospective of her work at the Victoria and Albert museum last year that was amazing - did any other Brits here go? I have three of her Jackets - costing around £ 300 each - not cheap but I wear them so much on a cost per wear basis they are worth it. Her tailoring is amazing if you have a large bust like I do - her fitted white shirts are the only ones I can wear without a huge gape around the chest area. I have to say that her bags have never yet quite hit the spot for me yet - they are nice but not nice enough to persuade me to lay out the bucks - I wonder if she gets involved in the designing of these much

Vivienne is one of my top three designers! Totally agree with you about her exquisite tailoring for curvy women...and I went to her touring exhibit, which was amazing.

I adore almost everything she's done, but there are three aspects of Viv that I don't quite get, I'd appreciate if someone can shed some light on the appeal of:

=like Katy says, the bags...
=the huge plastic buttons with the logo on it...to me it undermines the elegance of the outfits...
=the rockinghorse shoes...what's with the square cut at the heel..?

:ninja:

i want one of those dresses. to wear it at home and feel petty like a princess :P

I am glad to find this thread!!
I am a huge westwood fan~ the only problem with westwood clothes is that they don't go with other brands very well, you have to wear head to toe VW to get the full effect of her wonderful design!

Vivienne Westwood is one of my favorite designers too! I have a few pairs of her shoes and want to start buying more clothes. I have a question for all of you VW lovers, is this dress Sienna Miller is wearing VW? (pic from Sienna Miller thread) and what do you think about the other dress? (pic from ebay) TIA!:D

Don't know if it's VW. But that other dress is hot. Bid and Win!
