VMan #51 F/W 2023.24 by Nathaniel Goldberg

This guy is so hot, and in such an American way. That's a compliment.
Really talented actor too. I keep waiting for him to break out, but his career has been such a slow burn, since Beach Rats.
Anyway, I like this cover. A bit too red tho, and he really should have been shirtless. imo.:winking::redheart::collision:

^^^ He sort of resembles a very young Steven Klein...

Beach Rats is far superior a film, and he was far better utilized than his role in Triangle Of Sadness, which despite its great calling out how phoney creative industries are— especially the current state of the fashion industry; with its faux-kindness, faux-generosity, and faux-equality— will easily push someone aside away from frontrow-centre as soon as a more popular individual shows up to claim that coveted seat, loses steam by the 3rd act with its disappointing revelation of the crew being trained on a deserted island trope. Beach Rats remained consistently riveting from beginning to end.

He was amazing in Triangle of Sadness.
I am less conviced by this cover.
And of course it's more «Balenciaga» than «H&M» even he's wearing boring Givenchy

Surprised it's not a nepo with that name.

My mind went to Harris Reed for a moment and I was ready to hate, but I don’t mind this. Very good in Beach Rats, I’ve seen a few of this other films but didn’t make an impact.

Wow, I forgot Beach Rats. Remember watching that movie in 2019, and of course I was amazed by his talent and beauty. Then I missed his career. I'm glad to see him again. Some sort of equal to Josh O'Connor.

He photographs much better than his counterparts these days, and since this is one of the few mens' fashion titles left, I will take it. It seems they are not going for muti-covers this time which saves the time having to hunt the one you want.

What a surprise! Ha. If I were in America or Europe I would love to purchase both. These guys are fire.

Are you secretly a VMan editor? They had the same thought haha

Ashton Sanders and It's complete, ha. Love the unconventional queer movies, every picture talks about a different and almost unexplored subjects from the LGBTQ+ crowd. I feel so related to Josh's character in his movie.

Are you talking about God’s Own Country? That and The Crown are all I can think of that I’ve seen with Josh, but he made quite an impact in both roles. God’s Own Country is one of my favorites, beautiful movie in every respect. I often find it hard to connect with so called “queer” cinema (or media in general) but that one was major.

Yes! It's so realistic and really reflects the sexuality of small town boys, but not the Ryan Murphy or Shonda way, which is also correct, but never find myself represented in their universe. God's Own Country it's pretty close of my reality and my friend's. And it's kind of subject rarely explored in media when a male lgbtq+ character is introduced. I noticed the same watching Beach Rats.

God’s Own Country is wonderfully wholesome in all its bittersweet, unexpected ways. Josh looked terrible in it tho, but the other actor is quietly handsome and reminds me a lot of Ghesquiere LOL Men that are simply gay doesn’t go over well with gen z, it seems. They only identify with the LGBTQXYZ+++++ Yaaaaaassssss Queens. In my neck of the woods, it’s 2SLGBTQIA+ LMFAO I honestly don’t know how anyone can say all this without cracking up. It’s such a caricature.

Nathaniel is a solid talent, but these cover selects that resemble video grabs are on the more forgettable side— especially for a biannual offering, where the covers needs to be standouts. With men’s rags being in even more o a precarious state than women’s, it’s kind of clueless that these rather throwaway selects are what they’ve decided on. I can appreciate the red/purplish tinge, which always has such a strong 1960s vintagey, polaroid mood. Just that these oddly-cropped images don’t bring the best of these men, like— Harris’ unusually intense cat-like eyes could have brought so much more to a covershot.— instead, they go with a select that has him looking away.

Bo Gum is just so handsome, that picture just doesn’t do him justice. I loved his drama Love in the Moonlight, so I always like to see him getting covers.

I like the first 2 they look like those mens magazines from the early 2000s
