Vogue Australia July 2011 : Gisele Bündchen by Patrick Demarchelier

Just to add fuel to the fire, this shot of Gisele was reprinted by Vogue Portugal too. Although Vogue Australia has done more justice, with the complimenting font colours.

I say this pretty much every time VA reprints - but the thing is that we just don't have the access to International models the way that the US and European countries do. It's just a fact.
To fly someone out like Anja Rubik, which they did, would cost them a huge amount.
I think they do an amazing job of creating original covers featuring predominately local talent, but even then we still get to see bigger names like Erin Wasson last month.
If they want to go for one of the major International girls then yeah, more commonly than not they have to reprint. It's just the way it is. I don't think they should be shot down for it?
As AutomneRoi20 said - the average reader probably wouldn't even be aware of what was a reprint or original cover/editorial anyway, unless they follow International editions closely.

I would like the cover, but that blouse bugs me.

I agree except for a nitpicky point, they could have had the shoot done in New York or another hub, for example, not all of what you see in Vogue Italia is shot in Italy. Nevertheless, if I was an editor and had the choice of shooting fresh material locally, shooting fresh material elsewhere or reprinting existing content, I don't know why choosing to reprint an ed and/or cover is a questionable option. Now if a magazine is 90% reprint, 90% of the time, that is not a good thing, but I think it is smart for an editor to present very good / great / amazing reprints versus presenting original material that is good / mediocre / bad. As others have stated, I doubt if more than a few hundred people know and even care that the content originated elsewhere.

really like the cover, its simple, clean yet soo pretty

i didn't know that the cover was a reprint and i dont really think its that big of a deal. its a really pretty studio cover shot and vogue au did a good job with the colours and text. to be honest i actually like reprints sometimes. some shots from editorials deserve to be covers and this way i have access to an editorial that i could have never probably seen - vogue au is much easier to come across than vogue china and this is one of the main reasons why i like reprints sometimes

i think if you look aside from the fact that its a reprint, which isnt really a big deal at all, then this cover is beautiful

and here is the hq cover image from vogueaustralia.tumblr.com

it's the same photo that Vogue Portugal Choose for 2 or three months ago

Can someone do a review please? I'm not sure if I'll bother getting this issue and I can't flick through it in a newsagents 'cause it comes with a shirt or something and is sealed.

This comes with 2 black cosmetics bags so that only means this issue is a dud with reprints of eds and articles however it is a July issue so it's pretty thin as well and I'm glad they reprinted the dior ed. Interesting beauty contents though.

Looking at this reprint I compared it to the VR's thread and it seems like they've added some outtakes/unseen shots!

Almost bought this issue today. I'm glad I didn't now.

Twin Peaks – The July issue of Vogue Australia goes retro with Nicole Bentley’s cinematic story starring Emilia Scuza and Melissa Johannsen. Outfitted by fashion editor Meg Gray, the sophisticated duo sports fall ensembles from labels such as Stella McCartney, Prada and Bally. With flawless hair and makeup by Daren Borthwick and Linda Jefferyes, the girls make everything from reading to card playing a captivating event.

^ Yes, the last celeb cover was last August with Cameron Diaz I think. ..

I don't usually mind reprints too much but I don't understand why Vogue Aus would use the same cover Vogue Portugal used not very long ago, doesn't look very good on their part. Not to mention 2 of the eds in it are reprints too. Oh well anything to sell right :innocent:
