Vogue Australia June 2018 : Rebel Wilson by Nicole Bentley

I don’t understand this lazy styling choice to overwhelm a big woman with even bigger clothes. Take some time and figure out what suits her body best instead of covering it up in an attempt to hide that she’s fat. So much for being “fearless”....

I really like the styling, lol. I think she looks glam yet sophisticated which is a departure from her personal style. I know the current trend is to dress plus size women in whatever a la Lena Dunham, but a case can be made to keep things simple and effortless.

I'd like to think that the theme of that story was floor length evening gowns. And from that point, mission accomplished. Even if some may find it basic.

^^^ Floor-length evening gowns are apparently the only apparel big models ever are capable of wearing, if we’re to go by this lazy styling-- and most styling for big women…

May as well dress her in Comme’s latest and silliest designs where it’s only the head that’s shown, like some designer SpongeBob. I can think of a handful of flattering pieces that aren’t evening gown related for this shoot. And it’s not a crime to actually show her arms. I’m sure women and the gays aren’t going to faint seeing a woman in a Vogue with some extra bare flesh on her bones.

This magazine just lost me.

Crikey, the cover editorial is really lovely! Such effortless glamour, and so synonymous with Edwina McCann's era. This is what made me appreciate her vision. I take back what I said about Bentley. She delivered. So did the styling team. People say VP is mature, nope, this is easily the most mature and sophisticated Vogue edition.

I agree. The art direction is sublime and has cut through. While the older international editons look like they don't know whether they are coming or going, and the new editions are verging on pretentious, Vogue Australia indeed has like a mature, seasoned and assured confidence about it.
