Vogue Australia November 2016 : Victoria Beckham by Boo George

Joan Smalls in 2012...

Thank you! So 4 years. Wow, what a diverse and inclusive country we are. Fantastic effort.

Eh, Selena Gomez to me does not count..I don't know about others.

Does anyone know when the last time Vogue Australia had a non-white cover star was? June 2010 with Samantha Harris?

Also Jessica Alba.......

I'm not really fond of yet another profile shot of Victoria, it's tiring now. The highlight for me is the layout! They've tried it with Kim Kardashian's cover earlier this year, glad to see it back. My guess is the Edwina may have had to fight to get away with this. Certainly commendable.

I don't know what's inclusive about dismissing an entire ethnicity. Maybe your own idea of diversity is quite narrow itself.

It was quite clearly sarcastic..I don't know how you could think that me saying it has been 4 years since a non white model was on the cover is inclusive would be genuine...

I wasn't referring to the sarcasm. I was referring to you considering only black or "dark skinned" to be diverse.

It really is shameful that VA doesn't have more diverse cover models, in fact most of Vogue editions actually. In fact, i think US Vogue might be using the most diverse models, and celeb covers. Even if they are always the same dozen Anna favorites, at least she uses them often.

I wasn't actually. It is just that when I asked about nonwhite cover models I meant with darker skin. I don't consider ethnic and not white to be the same thing. Selena is shades lighter than me and I am a white person so I guess I don't consider her 'not white.' I think you will find it is a very subjective subject. For example, most people on TFS consider Europeans to be white, but where I live in Australia, as a dark Italian I often hear that I look very ethnic and when my mother came to this country she was teased for not being white. So I guess it is a matter of opinion.

Selena is a diverse cover star yes. But I don't think she is a non white cover star. For me it is the same thing as people here in Aus celebrating Charlee Fraser on the runways as the first Aboriginal. Sure, it is fantastic that a girl from a minority background finally has that opportunity but I still think most people would consider her to be a white model. That is definitely a divisive issue for many fair skinned Aboriginals so there is no right answer.

Looks like it might be a good read.

I think it's a pretty strong cover overall. I wonder if it's a missed opportunity to show some fabulous earrings, but I respect the decision to keep her look completely minimal so that we think more about the woman and her achievements, rather than fashion. Although it is Vogue, so I wouldn't have minded seeing some fabulous earrings. :) (Disclaimer: I love love love earrings)

That's a really high quality editorial. Kudos to Vogue Australia for this return to form.

Beautiful cover spread with VB, love the melancholy mood of the shots, and styling.

Thanks for posting zzzyao76 :flower:

There's a lovely article+editorial with Andreja Pejic. The styling is kinda boring and pedestrian but the photography gives a nice mood and vibe. It's a nice side of her :)

Erg. Australian Vogue is so obsessed with nouveau riche Boomers. I was quite a few decades ago now that they had an authentically Australian look, feel and attitude. This is just another generic cover with a bland overseas cover star that could have come from anywhere.

^ Very cynical! To me this is, while not huge on Fashion content, a surprisingly nice issue that celebrates a wide range of successful (and yes even Australian) women using their power, not just for their careers. In fact for once Edwina has a good written features about fascinating women of different ages, not all of whom are famous ala VB, Andreja.etc I will get this issue in print just to show my support!

Agreed with Miss Dalloway, I'll be buying this issue to show my support. I've left it very late, and the one news agency I've popped into recently had sold out (well done team Aus Vogue).

I agree with Cadence that nowadays doesn't have the same 'Aussie' look as many issues from other decades. However, photographers like Nicole Bentley, Will Davidson, Benny Horne, and the late Richard Bailey (oh wow he died 6 years ago?? Time flies.) have infused Vogue with a different, modern yet still Aussie feel. To me, the Nicole Bentley ed just above looks so Melbourne. I like the mix of street and studio shots.

I love the styling of the cover but VB looks like she always does.
