Vogue China July 2006 : Doutzen Kroes

"BIG" in what way, though? Doutzen was never on the small side (No matter which way you speak of :D)

Why is that LV dress so popular? I seem to recall quite a few covers with it :yuk:

There are many beautiful Asian models, but they hardly grace the covers of Asian magazines... :(

yeah, exactly... it seems they're taking the vogue nippon route, which is too bad

wasn't it on vogue paris in feb or something?

imho Vogue China is so boring because they haven't used Elise in their mag since it's launch... :innocent:

but i think they are doing a good job with this July issue... boring mag + boring model = perfect boring vogue china. :magic: :woot:

Yeah, I think. And I remember Reese wearing it for W(?) and maybe one more cover. I'm not sure. :P

Yeah I agree!
That LV dress is simply hideous. Maybe it's a way of advertising? :(

you consider a magazine good only by the fact that it uses your favorite model? so immature.:innocent:

haha...yes i'm so immature :P i guess you must be the maturest person that ever matured :smartass:

Isn't this the same dress (thing?) Reese Witherspoon wore on W? I don't like it. I don't mind the colors but the cover is a bit boring.. Doutzen isn't endearing here!

i'm not a reese witherspoon fan but the dress did look way better on her.

am I the only one who likes the cover? I'd like to see it bigger though.

Who are in the eds? :flower:
An Elise Crombez's ed by Tim Walker, a Lily D's by Greg Kadel, a Gemma's ed by Testino, these three eds are beautiful. There's something more but I can't remember.

wow, the cover is so great, I love it! I mean, I love all the colors they used on the cover and especially the model, doutzen is among my favourites!!

 Worst model cover so far this year.

Why?

When it comes to Vogue Korea it is even worse (I don't read it though)
In years only Hye Park graced the cover of Korean Vogue as an Asian (or Korean) model.

It is SO sick!

I cannot speak for Korea but I will offer a summary of my conversation with an individual who works in the marketing field and lives in Beijing. This is after I asked why white-looking models dominate Vogue China covers...

There is an overwhelming desire in the average Chinese person's psyche that wants to be international. Time was limited so we didn't delve too deeply into the core reasons, but I would suspect that it stems from the fact that China was cut off for so long that there is a ravenous appetite for assimilation with the rest of the world and a hunger and fascination with fashion with its dominant figure, the white woman. Thus, covers with white models actually sell better than covers with Asian models in China.

That said, I also suspect as Chinese models (such as Du Juan) continue to get the spotlight on the main fashion platform, the Chinese public will be demanding these models' equal due. Personally, I hope this will come to be true. We'll see...
