I always think she looks better in motion. She has a delicate beauty and expressive face that doesn't translate as well in print when she's not photographed and styled well. They surely had better better options for the cover. Choosing underwhelming shots must be a new trend, but I quite like the editorial. There's at least an attempt to use better her physicality, similarly to her Porter magazine cover and Vogue US cover shot by David Sims.

Honestly,I don't think anyone is trying to make her "happen" as a fashion icon, and I don't think she's interested in being revered for her style either.
I see she hardly promotes herself outside of the standard film promotion, and she doesn't even have any social media presence.
This is probably her first cover that is just about her being one of LV's spokespersons. They have obviously taken advantage of her promotional duties, especially in 2015/2016 when she had multiple films to promote and the studios behind them were in full Oscar campaign mode. I also expect Emma Stone being front and center in the next months.
In my opinion her collaboration with Ghesquière has mostly worked on the red carpet, above all for her more high-profile events. I think she's generally better suited to wear some of his designs than other ambassadors, and they've also nailed many of her bespoke looks.

Not one to judge people for choosing to work. A job is a job. Its the editors we should be judging. And dear editors, Alicia is a nice actor and gorgeous woman, but she isn't a model. Please stop choosing her.

If her fashion work comprised of her doing the occasional ad campaign and appearing on the cover of, say, French Elle, I'd regard it as a bit of supplementary exposure that takes nothing away from her acting.

But to keep appearing front and centre as the cover star of various Vogues, not to mention over and over again in one of the main ad campaigns that you see when you open any major fashion magazine... she doesn't work that well in print, and constant exposure to her in such an underwhelming setting has now completely eroded my interest in her film appearances.

I can't fault someone for taking contracts that are offered to them, but the end result for me is that the magazine, the advertiser and the film won't get my money. No interest in any of it.

Forget Alicia Vikander and this unremarkable cover, that third shot from Julia Bergshoeff's editorial should've been the cover instead, and is without a doubt the strongest story from the issue.

The image of Julia would've made for such a beautifully festive, soft and glamorous December cover, with a white or blush-toned Vogue masthead and minimal fonts - a total missed opportunity.

True.... having Julia, should be the main editorial and one of those pictures for the cover. Looks more for December issue cover than Alicia’s one.
