Vogue España July 2019 : Rosalía by Peter Lindbergh

I think that this "hate" is also influenced by the fact that she is from Barcelona and the whole catalan independent movement (?). Like she´s catalan not spanish but she sings flamenco. At least all that is what I gathered from the spanish media.

So a Spaniard creating flamenco music or having a flamenco aesthetic is anything but cultural appropiation. Flamenco is uniquely Andalusian and hence uniquely Spanish.

Gwyneth 'The African Princess' Paltrow .

I AM SCREAMINNNNNNNG!!!!! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I personally find stupid how people criticizes her about singing reggaeton. I'm not gonna say anything more about it because is a very sensitive theme.

I think she is criticized mostly because she is overexposed. Yes, there had been debates over cultural appropriation (because anything is called cultural appropriation these days, sigh!) and whatnot, but from what I can gather now that I am back in Spain, most people are just tired of seeing her everywhere. I mean, I don't follow artists like her and still can't avoid seeing her face for an entire week

Well apparently Vogue Spain hates her *** as well cos this is just insultingly atrocious. This might be blasphemous but Ive given up on Peter Lindbergh a decade ago. I literally feel nothing when I look at his recent work, no matter how constipated he makes his models pretend to feel in front of him. 99% of his work lately is overrated shite, still he has everybody swooning over it. There I said it. But keep raking in those dollars Peter, you go girl.

Finally! Cultural debates aside she's the real deal when it comes to pop performers and god knows music in spanish needs a refresh after years upon years of hideous bachata and reggaeton.

The cover is kind of hideous, she looks really pale and the hair is a bit passé, the layout looks so wrong and out of proportion with the image. The spread inside looks a bit better.

i like the cover, not so much the dress but its ok...her expression is good.

Those discussion about her music or why people "hate" her should be in another forum...spanish people hates everything, its like their hobby...as long with gossip...so honestly yeah she is overexposed but not in spanish magazines i don't recall another cover from a big title....

spanish people hates everything, its like their hobby...

Is funny because in Vogue’s instagram comments they started to talk sh*t about Penelope Cruz and saying things like “she’s as talentless as Penelope”, “I don’t know why people like her or Penelope are getting covers” and comments like these

...spanish people hates everything, its like their hobby...
yup .. care at all about spanish people? then let’s keep this best kept secret (insufferable pedantry) as exactly that..

I know a lot of people with decent taste that like Rosalía’s music.. I tried and it did nothing for me.. but it sounds like some thought went into her stuff soo woo.. cover’s a bit too intense for me though, I decline..

Every country does the same. I always believed the "Spaniards hate everyone from Spain that succeeds"...then move to the UK and it was the same. Sometimes worse.
I do believe she is overexposed as any famous person is. I don't really care, nor am I going to hate her because why would I? But I think that is a fact. And it's not a bad thing, it is just how the business works.
I mean, this is TFS, where a model walks every show and gets every campaign for 2 seasons and is loved by everyone...and then by the 3rd season everyone is tired of seeing her face and she becomes the most boring model overnight. Just imagine she is Anna Ewers.

^ now let me be pedantic for a second lol: not the US and not the Netherlands..

I really like her a lot but I also understand why a Spanish artist would get criticism for doing an iconically Latin American sound. Latin Americans get a lot of hate in Spain and are looked down upon there.

Really? Who are these Brits who you hang with, Ana? Let me guess, Londoners!
I suppose it can go both ways. Someone like Ellie Goulding got almost instant appeal despite not many not actually like her music. But then there was Geri Halliwell many years ago when she went to America (Bridget Jones era), who was absolutely dragged for all sorts of petty reasons.

I've thought Anna Ewers was the most boring model since day one.:lol:

We are a little off topic here....back to this issue, there are editorial previews on the Fashion director and culture editor' s instagram accounts.

El Cielo Es El Limite

Photographer: Peter Lindbergh
Stylist: Juan Cebrian
Hair: Odile Gilbert
Makeup: Marie Duhart
Manicure: Typhaine Kersual
Cast: Rosalia

Rest of the fashion content is a 24-page story by Txema Yeste and styled by Buscato with a massive cast. Some studio, some outdoors. The studio shots are very strong. It looks like those portfolios the magazine seems to be so fond of lately. But instead of Camila Falquez, we got Yeste this time around.
- A short summer edit with Giedre shot by Bjorn Iooss and styled by Vogue Mexico's Valentina Collado
- Neneh Cherry looking radiant and ageless, styled by Marta Bajo
- Designer profile of the month is Stella McCartney, with the lovely Laura Hayden and the blokes from Anteros modelling her looks! Styled by Bajo. Odd to see a British band in Spanish Vogue.
- Belleza is a reprint from Vogue Mexico/Latin America (Hana Jirickova by Carlijn Jacobs), and actually, most blurbs throughout the magazine are accompanied by shots from Vogue Mexico/Lat America, VP and Allure. Maybe all their budget went into the cover story and the Yeste one.

I didn't know who Rosalia was and I thought she must be a woman in her mid or late 40s.
Apparently she's only mid twenties :ninja: I think on the cover she looks way way older.

Anyway excited to see the content!

She’s the most important artist to come out of Spain maybe ever and this is what they produce?!
