Vogue España October 2017 : Dakota Johnson by Emma Summerton

What an odd and random choice and what a try hard cover. Are they Lui now?

Reminds me of a cheaper version of that Linda Evangelista cover by Meisel for Vogue Italia

And why does it look like as if she were added to the photo? The head and shadows look so fake.

this could have been a stellar cover with a great model and better execution...

I thought it couldn't get any worse than her February vogue cover but she truly outdid herself....

I think it was a great concept, it's time for something sensual from Dakota so I'm sold on the idea. Just a pity it looks so odd. Her in front of the door, unobscured would have been much better.

Second actress cover in such a short span.....

At first I disliked it but once I saw she wasn't nude I actually liked the picture itself. I don't like the art direction though.

How bizarre, and she looks so uncomfortable! And the stiff hand!

But I like the font, and the blue and the orange masthead.

I like the concept but imo the execution failed big time and the layout just made it worse.

Good idea but just ends up looking a little bit strange

I saw this on Instagram earlier, and when I was quickly scrolling down I honestly thought this was Daria Werbowy at first glance (false hope). What a total letdown and I actually like Dakota Johnson (especially in the new Intimissimi campaign by Mario Testino).

A shot like this is exactly what Eugenia de la Torriente would've done at Spanish Harper's Bazaar, and it just simply doesn't work for Vogue Spain.

I wish I could like it but Dakota is so stiff and uncomfortable. A little back arch would have done wonders for the shot.

Now that you mention it, I see it as well. I just pictured the Bazaar masthead instead. Editors must realise that every brand has it's own aesthetic, which in many cases simply cannot be rehashed or copied for another.

As for the shot, it really should've been zoomed in much more. The open door is fine, because it gives you a story for the setting.

I find it interesting that most of the Vogues are adopting a minimal cover text approach now. Vogue Portugal, Turkey, now Spain. I'm personally all for it because it gives so much weight to the image.

Eugenia has been the biggest disappointment ever. I don't get why someone as talented as her as a fashion critic (or at least I thought she was) could be such a bad editor in chief. Or maybe it's just Vogue, that is too much of a mainstream magazine and she just can't do anything else... But still...

In her critics I saw someone with a very sharp eye, with a very critic voice, with a very personal perspective, with a lot of fashion knowledge... As editor in chief I just see someone very mediocre and basic. IDK. Maybe it's not her fault and I'm being too mean.

Anyway, still better than the other eic. Although anything is better than Yolanda I guess.

is Vogue Spain doing better with Eugenia? i do like the cover....

I like the idea but the execution is a dud.

At least Linda Evangelista didn't look like she was masturbating with the side of an open door, like a showgirl that's had too much champagne at a posh house party.

I cannot stop laughing LOL

Going off the activity and feedback from this thread, I'd say Eugenia is allowing standards to slip, no? I'm amazed we've heard zilch on the contents of this issue.
