Vogue Italia January 2005 : Hollywood Style by Steven Meisel

it actually has been done a few times before -- off the top of my head i remember one editorial with eva herzigova and greg payne that appeared in paris vogue and vogue nippon. i think the photographer was nathaniel goldberg. also, von unwerth was heavily into it around late '02 - she shot like 3 or 4 paparazzi-esque edits for italian and l'uomo vogue.

i think meisel is more imitative than innovative, but at least the production quality is always incredible.

I also remember seeing some sort of "Papparazi" style layout with Laetitia Casta in the 1990s as well... I think shot by Mario Testino? So this concept isn't a new one.

Still, this edtorial cracks me up! I love going through it and trying to indentify which model is supposed to be what trashy star! :p

i thought the last one was supposed to be Mary-Kate Olsen with all the bangles and huge sunnies..? either way, great editorial, very funny!! and yes, the Pammy one is kinda scary - but dare i say it - not as scary as the real thing ;)

We are SPAMMED with Paparazzi- and Candid Pics everywhere - at least Fashion Magazines should stay away from this tasteless "Celebrity Street Style"! :yuk:

Er I think this is meant to be a deliberate "tongue-in-cheek" editorial just poking fun at the Holywood Celebs. ^_^ Don't read too much into it!;)

I think it's really a reflection of our times, more than anything. Models are getting bumped off the magazine covers in favor of celebrities, so now, for once, they can replace celebrities in the gossip rags! This editorial is so creative and hilarious on so many levels. I love it. The shots of Hannelore eating food out of the trunk of the car are the best. In fact, every shot of Hannelore is pure genius!

it's absolutely a reflection of our time! just look at the candids thread!
it is so weird that everyone is addicted to pictures of tasteless people shuffling and eating on the street only because a few million dollars are dangling on each arm...
i loved it.
was anyone else surprised to see amy wesson?

That's brilliant, thanks for posting the pics! The gratuitous pregnant bellies are an especially nice touch.

this is exactly why i love vogue italia.
i must have this issue... can any of you tell me which it is...?

lol I know what you mean, I spent half an hour doing that when I first saw the spread

This is so cool. Is this the March issue? I love it!

cute, cute, cute! quite like it, seems like there's mary-kate olsen and sienna miller in there for sure . . .
but what's with the OUTRAGEOUS amount of smoking. hollywood celebs barely smoke in public like that.

Vogue Italia is just the BEST.
W was in competition for awhile, but has been dragged down by one too many covers featuring Julia, Cameron, J.Lo, J.Lo, J.Lo.

And this shoot, while not characteristic of the magazine, is indeed genious. So funny, so tongue in cheek...Take that, Britney barefoot-in-gas-station-lavatories Spears.
