Vogue Italia June 2009 : Meghan Collison by Steven Meisel

^^Yeah it is......but same sentiments here :D;)
I'm surprised by how much I like Abbey Lee and Imogen's ed:shock: Abbey Lee looks fantastic:woot:
Thanks for all the scans as usual Diciassette:flower::flower:

Indeed, quintessential Walker. Its lovely and well executed.

I really like Malgosia's ed, very nice to see her + they must've had a real fun while shooting  Thanks so much for scanning, Diciassette!

Malgosia's editorial is really lovely. thanks for posting, Diciasette!

The edit is unmistakable. Pure Tim Walker theatrics and over-the-topness. It also is another one of those VI edits that is more about pomp and circumstance than about the clothes themselves.... There is something about throwing together a ton of boring, neutral shade clothes together against an eye-catching, visually compelling background that doesn't appeal to me.

So any thoughts on that caption on the cover? Just your random journalist quote after a collection?

I wondered where it's from as well. Maybe it's from a pre fall collection review?

At first, I thought it was a randomly put-together piss-take of the typical hyperbole... but now I wonder if it's a real quote from a review made many years ago. And what connects those words with that format of image?

Yeah....Diana Vreeland can't have said something like that? No, it's just not clever/nutty enough for that. It's sort of boring...

It's interesting to state that plastic is the new black when most of the page it says that on is black ;)

I did a very quick search at style.com; Cathy Horyn's blog and at the International Herald Tribune site (in Suzy Menkes reviews) and nothing turned up...

Major karma for the one who finds out where the quote is from.

^It's probably a scary number of people who are pondering this epic question right now...

I think VI isn't about stylism. VP is all about the stylism, VI on the other hand is more an arty vision of fashion. Its how I see it anyway, when I flip through a VI issue I know that I will not be inspired by the clothes, but by something else.
That's why I love both VP and VI, there complementary to me.
VI's stylism is very often disapointing I'm used to it

Though the danger for anyone seeing the 'quote' as a challenge to be found, is that VI will have the last laugh if it is entirely invented.

I really like the cover,in fact it would be perfect if only it didn't say Pre-Fall Preview on it. That ruins it for me. That said,I'm going to buy this one

Yep, it's probably a construct, just the average sentences after a collection put together to seem particularly inane. Breaking it down, it really seems your first guess is right ;)

Value assessment. Statement A. Statement B (contradictory to A). Like a C, D of E (contradicts C and D) coming down the runway. Conclusion (has nothing to do with A, B, C, D or E).

Other thoughts: Reference to the Emperor's new clothes. And reference to the fact that people get plastic parts of themselves in order to look good....where black would otherwise have helped.
