Vogue Italia June 2010 : Eva Herzigova by Steven Meisel

Sedene and Ayan's stunning bodies combined with the lovely composition and great makeup are the only reason I would ever consider buying this.

Wild is the wind has got to be the most pretentious and contrived styling I've seen this year.. wish they had chosen another name instead of mixing such a flawless song with.. that. and I wonder whose idea it was to have Deborah photograph Eugene.. although I can see how only Deborah's lens could manage to bring some sympathetic spark out of those bratty eyes.

oh well.. another putrefactive publication sustained only by their highly regarded name.

i was thinking more along the lines of "the road" or a post-apocalyptic movie like that.

OMG that film! and I can see your point... there's nothing Romani here as far as I am concerned bcos all models look sad and depressed... which does not really reflect the Gypsy culture...

Swim themed beauty story from the same issue, not sure if this is the full story - there might be a few more pictures. I'm sure all will be revealed soon ^_^ I love seeing Sedene and Ayan in VI though, gorgeous gorgeous girls and the story itself is very cute.

Whatever was going on on Meisel's ed, whatever the mood of the editorial is, I think it's a complete mess and can't like it at all.

Random Thoughts:
Beauty Sedene Blake and Ayan Elmi by Greg Lotus - I like it, especially the cover photo, but I am not blown away. These are models that I would like to see more of in print. Kudos for casting models of color.

Eva Herizgova by Glen Luchford - At the risk of sounding petty, I think that I would like this editorial a whole lot more if Eva had a different hair style, even better if she sported 2-4 different hair styles throughout the ed - nothing crazy, in addition to the bob, perhaps a nice updo and a soft flip with a sidepart. I do like the humor.

Wild is the Wind by Steven Meisel - Y'all I don't get this at all. First off, didn't they do dirty people last September(?); and that dirty people ed (actually, I think that it was an acting troupe playing dirty people) had energy and fashion. This editorial is a major styling misfire and this is coming from someone who has been effusively complimentary of Marie-Amelie Sauve's work. Franca should have rejected this for Vogue Italia and it should have been "transferred" to L'Uomo Vogue where it should have been pared down and published as one of their secondary editorials since the thing that halfway works in terms of composition, casting and styling is the men.

The cover said fall forecast - is that going to be reflected in other eds?

I'm all about the beauty ed. Love the suits, love the GIRLS :woot:.

The main editorial is absolutely perfect. For me it is the best Meisel story I have seen this year. Reminds me that atmosphere of a chaotic world in the Children of Men movie.

i completely agree. it was the first thing i thought as well! just a vibe or something. reminds me of the people in the woods who killed Julianne Moore's character. yeah .. the chaos.
