Vogue Mexico & Latin America December 2020/January 2021 : Selena Gomez by Dario Calmese

(Does the reprint of Sebastian Faena’s Monica Bellucci story count as a supporting edit? The aesthetic surprisingly fits with VM’s sensibility and works stronger than it did for that other Vogue.)

Spot on! I was surprised how cohesive it seemed with this issue, in fact, I looked at it with more detail than when it came out in VI weeks ago. I don't really know what that means because I didn't particularly like it the first time around.

Cover and accompanying editorial aside, it's again one of those signature Vogue Mexico/Latin America editions. Everything just flows so well together, and the team are clever to commission some of the best yet underrated photographers for the magazine. People speak as if Alt is the only one with an identity, but Karla and Edwina's visual styles are as recognisable as Alt's imo. Interesting to see Karla do some styling. And that it's just a sort of filler accessories edit. It makes for a welcome change.

^^^ Vogue Mexico is welcomingly consistent with their AD and aesthetic that’s very true and honest to its people and culture, at least with the secondary stories. It’s just such a shame that Selena gets the cover while Beauise and her gorgeous, and far far far superior story, gets a supporting role.

(Shame also the model from Chanel advertorial reprint “Velocidad de Crucero” isn’t cast in her own OG story with VM's distinctive fashion direction. She is supremely gorgeous, instantly reminding me of a young Lisa Bonet.)

Selena, like Ariana g, just looks like a kid wearing her mom’s clothes...they have a young vibe that even if you want to sophisticated them, you have to do it the right way...i don’t think they nailed it.

im tired of seeing in VM/VL botanical editorials...this is a constant thing on them.

I agree that they give latin talents a space to show their work, but they need to elevate their game...

I'm buying back issues, but this one will be the first since march that I will buy at its current moment. I like these eds a lot, but I don't know about the cover. I need the printed edition in my hands.
