^^^ The leading spread of Amber’s story is by far the best shot. Very 70s-cinematic sensibility. Her entire look reminds me of Madonna in Swept Away: Whether that’s a good or bad thing is entirely up to you (it’s not a good thing). I suppose they had to appease the Gucci corporation with that final covershot select, but it’s absolutely the least attractive shot of her.
VM is really coming into its own in the last while. They may not have the budget and global star-power, but like Poland, they know how to worldbuilding their distinct identity with finesse. Great team and even greater art direction throughout. The likes of Mexico and Poland really understand the spirit of HF on a production budget alive and kicking and puts someone like Edward and his lazy, gimmicky Vogue to shame.
("Cambo De Direccion” is clearly an advertorial obligation and I don’t fault them for it. It’s so V Magazine-obtrusively crass within the context of the more effortless, relaxed stories. And I suspect they weren’t even allowed to take it outside for an on-location shoot from the dealership LOL God it’s ugly.)
