Vogue Russia January 2020 : Claudia Schiffer by Cunyet Akeroglu

Why did they use this picture for the cover?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Claudia's face, so not sure why Vogue Russia chose this image. I actually like the actual image, but not as a cover. It would have made a stunning campaign for Chanel because the codes and clothes are tastefully displayed.

Can someone please translate what they're saying underneath the Vogue Values headline? @MagFan

How many “Values” covers are we going to get? And what a horrendous cover shot. Almost positive we’ll find better in the editorial. (Is her head an O?)

Oh Claudia... first Vogue Italia, now this? They're really doing her dirty with all these nastys covers. As @Benn98 said, lovely image but certainly not for a cover.

Values we will take in a new decade and new season biggest trends

There is no name written on the cover. How potential buyers can guess this is Claudia (who was big in Russia in the 90th) and not some noname girl?

Curious how the values translate internationally...

Is she wearing FW92 Chanel?
If so, it’s weird to have another Vintage Chanel on the cover of Vogue...
The image does give me fragrances campaigns vibes but it’s kinda chic. It’s weird but I don’t dislike it!

Yea! Or they are lowkey shading/boycotting Virginie or they are just paying tribute to Karl (or the both things).

Is Cuneyt still alive? Shocked he booked a cover after few years inactive.

Yes, weird, I mean how rare is that! I can defense the UK cover since it was launched right before the prefall show, but this? We don't see other brands pushing archive pieces in the name of sustainability.
If I were Virginie, I would feel like a slight slap on my face.....seriously

Slightly weird image for the cover but I like the image

This is what you get when you're already done with the shoot and at the same time are contractually bound to promote Vogue Values.

Slap the tagline even without correlation to the cover

It's a real shame Claudia's face is barely visible in this, because I would've been willing to shout from the rooftops about it. What an odd angle for a cover, completely ruins it for me and I loathe how the O is missing entirely from the Vogue masthead.

Although I do love the use of vintage Chanel here, since Claudia Schiffer will always be Karl Lagerfeld's ultimate Chanel woman in my eyes and she's the perfect person to showcase and re-wear a look from the Chanel archives - far better than Taylor Swift ever could for British Vogue. This really could be a piece from Virginie Viard's current collection... which is the absolute beauty of Chanel clothing.
