I LOVE this !!! This is the future of fashion, magazines and fashion designs: digital and technological advances mixed with art, creativity and vision.
This is what will save the industry and make it move forward: to have new tools to make fashion exciting in a total new way.
I remember people being against digital models because it would take away jobs from real models who already have it bad with celebrities and actors or singers but they are still working, it's just an adjustment. To have digital 3D models or digital runway shows or digital magazine covers and so on is just another way to appeal to new readers and a total new public that is technology savvy. Some of us will remember the old small disks on PC's and then DVD rom or from when we went from VHS to DVD to Blue-ray to MP4 and now forever streaming. I LOVE that, and it's the future.
As a magazine editor I've learnt from years the following:
- men don't buy as many newspapers as they used to (from they grandparents time maybe)
- men don't buy as many magazines as women
- young people don't buy as many print magazines as WE used to and now they just see images on social media
- videos have replaced traditional print pages of magazines
- social media platforms like Instagram and Tiktok have way more power, influence and relevance today against print magazines
Therefore, in my opinion, it's clear that what Vogue Taiwan is doing and now what Vogue Singapore is doing too is what the future will be all about: using technology and new 3D tools to make Fashion with a capital F very exciting and cool and appealing once again to a broader range of readers worldwide.
I can't wait to see what the future brings for those magazines who will survive post Covid era and post Vogue new restructure period, but one thing is for sure: it WILL BE digital. No doubt about that.
