NICOLE KIDMAN ON BABYGIRL AND PUSHING HERSELF TO THE LIMIT Photography: Nick Brinley Styling: Sara Moonves Hair: Adir Abergel Make-up: Gucci Westman Model/Celebrity: Nicole Kidman
Amazing. This is typical, essential Robert Longo and he is a great contemporary. Nicole just works here. This is not so much fashion, but Nicole just being a muse to an artist. Similar vein to Kate Moss by Quinn, Emin or Freud. Fashion people are not going to enjoy this much, but this is fantastic.
Judged as a whole, the shoot is working for me and Nicole is going for it, which if something I admire about her work in general.
As a cover image, free of context, I kinda hate it. I suppose they have limited options for an image that displays her face, but even so I think they chose poorly.
W is so odd to me, because none of the covers are ever outright bad imo. In most cases they're pretty decent, but I always forget they exist after seeing them posted or in person. Nothing ever really pops or is memorable for me? Their publishing schedule seems odd, too... so many issues pumped out in the fall/early winter versus the rest of the year. I guess it's a good time for advertisers, but meh.
The cover image genuinely feels like a breath of fresh air, I'm into it. I love that vivid blue sky, the New York skyline, and the monochromatic look on Nicole Kidman here. It's not the most conventional cover shot but it's all working...
Really good. It’s an out there choice for a fashion magazine but it’s a good set of images, you really feel like it’s an actress collaborating on a project, emoting with her whole body and seducing the camera rather than just being a dress up doll for the day.
I am old enough to remember the OG series and the Bottega Veneta campaign.
What I don't understand is Robert Longo's role here. He is not credited as photographer at all, it's just by "Robert Longo studio".
