Wearing Blazers with Hoods

everyone is saying it's a dead trend... but i've never seen this as a trend... it's now as established as wearing sneakers, imo..... some of the comments made me laugh to death....

i can see it more as nyc style than a trend at this moment. until runways start displaying this style, or masses take it up, it won't catch on as a trend and remain as a style.

Guys still do this? I thought this was ovah? But if you like it, have at it...B)

heu... i know we are in the trends thread.... but do you only dress because of some trends?! don't you have your own style? (it's a GENERAL question! don't take it for yourself!)

and...jacques, of course guys are still doing that! it's a common thing! at least in Paris, and now I know in NYC, too...

this thing is not a trendy items like for instance gladiator shoes or skinny jeans etc. i always thought it was very common... but maybe tons of people are wrong...

I don't think it is a trend. I have seen blazers with hoods since I was in grade school, but mostly on female.

2-3 years ago hoodies with blazers was like the biggest trend in cities on the east coast, but it was too popular and contrived after a while so I think the trend was put to rest. I am pretty sure that Details magazine wrote an article about that look and it was not in praise of it. Anyways I think the look had its moment and I wouldn't be too impressed with it if I saw it on the street today. Also I've seen some homeless people in my town wearing that combo so there's another reason not to go there. Still, if people in the West coast are just now wearing it that doesn't surprise me much as the styles are so different between East and West anyways.

damn..i wear this look all the time..i had no idea it was a trend

i did it last week...but the weather in nyc is so weird these days so you never know how to dress when you walk out the door. lol

can't really see the hood, but:

I think both a blazer and leather jacket can work ... all depends on the garment and the styling... but I wouldn;t rule anything out.

since when is layering a trend?
like i said, it's been happening as far back as i can remember.
it just looks lame when it's worn with a crystal studded denim blazer with skulls on it, that it gets to be a little to "extra"
other than that, i think it's as basic as the gap.

This thread confuses me haha. for cold places, it's hardly a trend, I know we've been here at such low temperatures lately and I got me a hoodie, I didn't have one cause I never needed one but I can't take it off anymore, same for gloves or beret.
it's just freezing as limbo and I'll wear it with coats, jackets, you name it...not blazers though.
I do see all these layerings-for-cold tips as a bit of a trend in places that are usually above what's considered remotely cold..like here for example, our usual temp is around 25 celcius and during summer, you can see 'trendy' guys wearing scarves or hoodies, you know they don't need it and they're melting inside, they're just wearing the whole look they either picked up from a magazine or the guy next door. I know that because their equally trendy haircut gives all their intentions away. :innocent:

IMO, layering and a hood mixed with a blazer is a different thing. 1-2 years ago, the average guy wore this for a night out;

Hoodie
Cheap blazer, preferably in polyester or velvet.
Lightblue, distressed bootcut jeans.
White belt with big buckle
Pums sneakers

Now, layered or not, i still don't like the look, but feel that lyght wear it in a good way. The outfit would look much better with a simple cardigan though, IMO.

Ive seen it on some people and thought it looked good. Its not for me. Its too...I dont know "Details"??

I just remember a couple of years ago the onslaught of guys wearing hoodies with blazers that I've never notice before. Then it was the style du jour for television shows and mag spreads. I can understand layering it under coats and jackets but blazers are a different story. I don't like the jeans and blazer look, so to add a hoodie to that is no no for me. But different strokes for different folks.
