Wearing Your Heels?

What exactly is sleeping in heels supposed to do?
put holes in your sheets?

I guess maybe it would stretch out the shoes a little(but not much because theres is no pressure ont he foot) and contract your tendons..

Mmm ok I still don't get why anyone would do something like that though [No judgement]

I'm not sure why anyone would either... Lemme know how it turns out, Meg.

4 inch is perfect in my eyes, and my limit is 4.5, anything higher than that looks  to me (no offense to anyone, just my personal opinion).
I wear heels all the time, usually 2-4 inch.

for me, it used to be the sky's the limit (to compromise for height, or lack thereof..), but I've come to love flats... or at least heels under 3 1/2 inches

ok, I have spent years dancing latin ballroom.
Attached are the only type of shoes I have ever trained in. That's only a three inch heel. My Achilles tendon is the least of my problems at this point. My knees hurt, my hips hurt, my back hurts...I can not begin to imagine what 6" heels do to you.
I have gradually worked my way down to wearing 1.5-2" heels everyday...I still have trouble walking in flats, just because I have no idea how to and they become quite painful after a while. Wearing high heels on occassion is fine...
but everyday...here's a read

Also, sleeping in high heels is not good for you!!!!!
Your calf muscle become contracted (shortened) for 6-8 hours. That can lead to serious cramps, along with other problems.

We have some serious supporters of 6 inch heels and sleeping in them...I just had to give the other side of it.

Meg-Ann,

How did it go last night? I slept in my 19cm heels and today I'm wearing the 6" gold ones I showed you. My feet feel fine. I'll be ready for the wedding this afternoon.

And by the way - I think my legs look terrific in these and I have already gotten tons of compliments this morning.

I guess everyone is different. Heels are great for some women - not so great for others.

The world sure would be a boring place if everyone was the same.

Agreed; it is nice that we have such diversity here. :flower:

sugo-i love the shoes you posted...capezio right?...i got a similar pair recently, but i keep thinking about those...the heel is significantly higher than traditional dance shoes...i think they are beautiful...

i can't believe you're having so much trouble with only a 3" heel...i guess after years and years it builds up...i know young girls who have no feeling in some of their toes after years of 4" heels...no one ever thinks it's going to happen to them...until it does..

thanks for sharing your personal experiences and giving some perspective to this topic...if people want to damage and mutilate thier bodies...i think it's really their business...but to encourage young impressionable women to do the same...well, it would just be irresponsible not to warn them of the risks and dangers so that they can make an informed decision for themselves...

merci beaucoup...

Ive lost most of the feeling to heat and cold in my feet too......

This wasnt due to heels though :P but not wearing proper-built clothes for clearing 4ft of snow during my stay in Canada in -27C weather!

This board is quite a unique read, I never knew just how much it took to get used to heels. I've wondered more than once why anyone wears them at all if it hurts so much.

yep, those are capezio. And as much as people say capezio is bad for dancesport, it's the best shoe i've ever had, comfort and quality wise. Plus, very reasonably priced in comparison. Do you also dance?
3" heels don't sound bad until you dance in them 3-6 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Plus I've been dancing about 15-16 years now and have had a injury here and there ;-)
It just builds up.
Plus i'm the biggest clutz in flats now. I can't walk 5 steps without tripping over myself.

i haven't taken a dance class for years...but i did take classes for about 10 yrs...even though i don't dance anymore...i still love the shoes...for the look and as you said...the comfort...and you can't beat the prices... :flower:

I remember a few years ago, ballroom style shoes were EVERYWHERE....I think every designer made a version. BCBG is still making something similar. I can't do anything but dance in my capezio shoes though cause of the soft arch.
What kind of dancing did you do?

WOW!!

this topic made my head hurt

SUZI STILTZ, i do accept your choice. :flower:

but honestly, you know they are extremely unhealthy. and so do most of us girls here.
i dont think its a matter of wearing heels, liking them or condemning them.
its a more a question whether the heels YOU were are a girls cuppa tea B)

i absolutely ADORE my heels and they do go up to 5 inch but i would never ever SLEEP (sleep?? :ninja: ) in heels or shoes for that matter.

but to each their own.. i just wanted to say that i love my high heel even though they dont look like suzis :P

those capezios remind me of the miu miu ones from last fall :innocent:

Sleeping in heels? Well I tried it for two nights! I wore five inch pumps to bed (very strange) and the wore my regular 4" pumps the next day. I must say it did make wearing heels through the day effortless. I'm a fan thanks Suzi for the advice!

this is such a weird thread. I wear flats when I'm on the beachside and when I go to town I can wear up to 4.5 Manolos (but not any other shoes, I guess because they are more comfortable?) all other shoes only up to 4 at most, and then they are painful.

six, seven inches? like betty boop shoes... thats so... scary. dont the balls of your feet fall asleep with all that weight on them? Dont your toes scrunch forward and pinch? my god, I'm going to take an advil right now. it hurts just to think about it.

Never mind all the damage you are doing to your feet, ankles, knees, hips and back, but those 6, 7, 8 inch heels are NASTY.... Even the people society has deemed the most beautiful people don't wear heels that high... Get a grip, literally and come down of those heels. I can guarantee you will be seeing a back pain specialist in 5 to 10 years from now.... BAD, VERY BAD...
