I'm not going to be as deep as everyone else, but I think the Harry Potter books are a must read. Definitely agree on The Dairy of Anne Frank and Memoirs of a Geisha, those two are great.

Also, L'Éléphant bleu [The Blue Elephant] by Ysabelle Lacant and Beacon at Alexandria by Gillian Bradshaw. And ack, there are others I can't seem to think of right now. I'll come back to this thread often I think. Thanks for starting it

I recommend the Girl in Times Square..it's excellent....or anything by Paullina Simons....The Bronzed Horseman, The Summer Garden (sequel to The Bronzed Horseman) have read them all and all are fantastic reads..she's a great author

and as a few have said in here Memoirs of A Geisha..my all time Faaave book

Definetly Catcher in the Rye, if you haven't read that book sometime before graduating highschool, you are just missing out.
I also like a Million Little Pieces by James Frey, The Lovely Bones, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,On the Road, and The Story of my Life by Jay McInerny.

I love Paulinna Simons. The Bronze Horseman was my favorite (in the US the sequal was called Tatiana and Alexander) I haven't read The Girl in Times Square. I don't know if it's been released in the US yet. Have you read Tully? That's a good one too. I think 11 Hours was the only book of hers that I didn't like.

I love She's Come Undone and I Know This Much Is True - both by Wally Lamb. He's just a fantastic author and I've been sucking up those books lately.
