What Are Your Thoughts On Plastic Surgery?

I am very happy for you that you are satisfied. i guess you will spend a lot of time in front of the mirror to get used to it
like i said before, esp the first 2 months or so the nose looks still different.
considering the fact that yours is only 9 days "old", i can tell you that soon it will fit more into your face. the tip will (i mean the degree between tip and upper lip) will come down a bit and everything will look a lot more natural.
Congratulations :flower:

I got the splint taken off today. When the nurse first showed me the mirror my first thought was omg - that is not me. It was really weird since it was like I was looking at someone else in the mirror. When I just had juvederm I could see the difference, but my overall look was the same. I think lengthening the nose is what really made my face look different even though it was just by 1mm. My second thought was wow, my nose is tiny. It was kind of a shock at first since I was so used to my old nose. It's like when I got hair extensions for the first time I didnt really like it, but now I cant live without them. The nose is actually a good size that fits my face well.

The profile and bridge are flawless, theres some funkiness going on at the tip/nostrils but thats to be expected for the first few weeks or months and the dr doesn't judge the final result until 1 year after. The nurse said it looks great for 9 days. Assuming it all heals up well, I love the result so I'm praying there wont be any problems. It brings better harmony to my face just like the dr said. I'll post before/after pics when more of the swelling has gone down and it evens out a little.

Someone had asked about what to tell people after having stuff done and from my experience the past few days, unless your getting a major change no one will notice. Even the people that knew I was getting it done didnt really see it until they were looking for it. I think becuase it fits my face so well it looks like the nose I was born with and just blends with my face well, so no one suspects anything. My boyfreind is the only one who saw a major change. Even my brother needed to see a before picture to see the difference. And after you get it done, the swelling goes down gradually making the change not so sudden.

^Then your doctor did a great job - if even your friends wont notice it, then your new nose really fits your face. I'm not planning on telling my mom :ninja: I'm really curious to see if she finds out

^ Woah...thats abit risky isnt it not telling your mum (not that its any of my business ofcourse :) Wont she be able to tell from the bruising and the swelling?

I was also thinking of not telling my mom. I figured why worry her needlessly, if she finds out after at least she knows I came out alive and I was curious if she'd notice. My brother ended up telling her.

Most of the swelling on my face and bruising went away in about 3 days and was easy to cover up. I got some kind of steroids to help with the swelling and bromelain pineapple extract is supposed to speed up healing as well. If you're having closed rhinoplasty your swelling and bruising should go away even faster.

Hey guessgirl,
I remember you were saying that they elongated your nose by 1 mm..how did they do that? Did they add anything on to your septum ?

I'm too old to live at home you know, so I don't know how she would tell...I live 250 km from her, there's a reason for that  I'm actually not sure that she would notice.

He added septal cartilage to the bottom of the columella, the little piece between the nostrils. I can actually see the difference even though it was just 1mm. The "ideal" face is supposed to divide into thirds at certain points and it helped create better proportions on my face.

Guessgirl, can you post your pics? I'd love to see/know more about the Juvaderm?

I'd like a little lip plumpage... but not sure where/how to research! How did you do this? Internet?

It's harder too because I am in Australia and have no idea how to go about finding a reputable surgeon...

hey saturnine, I would take a look at the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. All surgeons who are part of this group will have had the most rigorous training in Australia.

a part of their website shows you how to find a good surgeons for you. e.g. looking at the list, looking at photos to see if you like what the surgeon has done (after all it's an art, not just a science) and asking people. http://plasticsurgery.melbournebusiness.com.au/default.asp?itemid=104

The best drs or clinical nurses to go to would be those who have had lots of experience doing the particular procedure you're going in for. You can just call up and ask some basic questions or go in for a consultation. For lip injections, a lot of the time, it's nurse injectors who do the procedure and so with their experience, they may even be more skilled than the Dr. who doesn't do it very often.

If you look on youtube, you can see samples of people having their lips injected with Juvaderm.

saturnine, I would recommend searching for plastic surgeons and dermatologists near you and then just searching their name to see their before after pics, reviews about them, their publications and research, articles about them or "top docs" type lists, societies/organizations they belong to, other positions they've held, years of experience. No doubt there are some experienced nurses but personally I wouldnt want a nurse to do it since you never know, it's harder to find out just how qualified they are. It's not common practice here, all of the good plastic surgeons that I know of here do injections themselves.

The juvederm in my bottom lip broke down quicker than in my top lip so right now it's not looking that great, I have a touch up appt in a few weeks. I could use a little bit more in one of my nl folds too. The tip of my nose is still swollen and very hard but it looks a lot better regardless. I want to post pics but I am the least photogenic person on earth and look either crazed or annoyed in all of my pics. I'll get a good one eventually. It looks very natural and the only person thats noticed said the only reason he did is becuase my eyes look a lot bigger and he thought I got my cheeks done too. But he's gay so he notices eveything

^I'm so glad to hear that you're happy with your new nose! That makes me so much more excited for June ^_^

That's great Guessgirl96!!

I am so very pissed, my Plastic Surgeon is MOVING out of country!!!

i liked him very much. :(
thank god i got an appointment with him on his very last day and he promised me to give me a list with doctors who are good and what they are specialized for (also a dentist).
i know this sounds pathetic, but once you found someone you trust this much (i mean, you FACE!!!!!) you don't want to go somewhere else.

But i am glad he gives me THE list :D

My PS is 63 so I kind of feel the same way. I dont think I need anything else right now but I wish he would be around when I needed an eyebrow lift and all the stuff you get when your older.

GG pls post picsss!! I've been thinking about getting my nose done...but ive seen ppl i know who had them done and i dont like it at all...

i think when u see people with nice work that s been done, u should ask them the name of the surgeon.
this girl had an amazing boob job and she told me which doctor did hers.

i don t think i ll ever be touching my face, except for a little botox later down the road, but the rest of the body ahh i can t wait till i get my D boobs. am now a 34 c natural, but since am pregnant my boobs got way bigger.
but when i have my kids i want a 34D.

Not the best pics but I made a little gallery that'll kind of give you the idea of what I got. The first few are before, then during, immediately after splint removal, and 2 months post op. You can see at 9 days my nose was crooked, strange and very upturned - not cute! It's looking better and the tip is falling but it's still swollen to the point that I cant even pick my nose so it'll keep getting better.

My friend in the first picture had his nose done by the same dr and his nose turned out beautiful. Still strong and assertive but perfectly shaped.

Looks really good..Your friend's right, your eyes do look bigger after the sugery!
Your surgeon's done a fab job from what I can see but to see the final result you have to wait for a year or so (depends on how much work youve had done on your nose) till the swelling goes down (i think- correct me if im wrong anyone!)
I like that its a subtle change and hasnt changed the overall look of your face x

Thanks for posting Guessgirl :flower: The change is very subtle, and I hope I don't offend you but I don't think you needed to change your nose in the first place. But I can see the improvement so it looks great nonetheless! And it looks like you got off pretty lucky with the healing. I've seen some pictures of other peoples' healing periods and they looked like death.

I'm pretty set on traveling to Korea this summer to get my nose done. I'm really nervous but at the same time my surgery date couldn't come soon enough!
