My nose is very slightly crooked, I wouldn't mind fixing it; if I did, I'm sure no-one would notice it... Even I don't really notice it that much!

Yup! I hav a slight small deviated septum and I have been pondering the idea to go down to 90210 and get it fixed. The cost: a lovely $4000 easily! There's 2 ways of fixing it.

1. Breaking & reconstructing the nose (plastic surgery)
2. Keeping the same and taking care of the deviated septum...

And Im just unsure which option I want.

He's world renowned and heard lost of great stuff about this doc... I think I'll go in for a consultation for the septo... I doubt I'll do rhino - my nose is fine I just have a hard time breathing properly ;(

btw has anyone noticed that surgeons who perform these surgeries have never performed cosmetic surgery, or at least the majority. The whole time I was looking at Dr. Nassif nose and he's nose is normal not that it's a very nice nose... strange no? and I just youtubed Laser Hair Removal for men and noticed doctors with hair on their arms giving patients laser hair removal hahah weird...

I know ! My surgeon has the BIGGEST, FATTEST nose you can dream of and he was telling me about my slightly "bulbous" nose and I couldn't help but start to laugh, looking at his own nose !

Haha yea, I've noticed that too. Maybe because if they get any work done, of course they'll pick a top surgeon to get the best results. So when patients see how good the work is, they'll run to that surgeon. Or maybe they're too prideful to get work done by their competitors?

My plastic surgeons nose is wide and uneven. I dont think most PS's care about their own looks to that extent. I know mine started out with facial reconstruction and is very much into research and education, he seems more concerned about making people feel better about themselves than the typical hollywood beauty.

Dr. Rey comes to mind. Charming as he is he looks like he worries more about his own looks than his patients

My surgeon has a very nice nose, but I can't tell if she's had it done. She doesn't seem like the type to have anything done...but neither do I

I think he is talking about either one of two things - the extra skin "shinkwraps" around your new nose as it heels. This is more of a concern with thick skin which doesnt re-wrap around the new nose as well as thin skin. Drs actually have to be careful of taking away too much or there may be extra skin left hanging. I have thick skin and I could feel it moving independantly of my nose when I bent down or with a sudden movement for the first few weeks, it was very very weird.

He could also be talking about how scar tissue puts pressure on the nose which may cause shinking over a long period of time (like 10 years). This is more of a problem with thin skin than thick because any small change can be seen more easily, while thick skin hides small irregularities.

Dr. Toriumi goes into this in more detail on his site if you want to read more about it. He actually makes his noses a little bit bigger to account for this though it is controversial. From what I understand it was more of an issue 10 years ago but not as much of one now because of better support. Toriumi was named #1 rhino doc in the US by W mag and is very very well known, I was considering flying to chicago until I did a little more research about him. He seems to have way too many angry patients who say he destroyed their nose completely and is testing his new technieques on his patients

The good side of scar tissue - I read in an article my PS wrote how as you age the ligaments in the nose loosen just like on the rest of your face, and the scar tissue acts as added support to counteract it, slowing the aging of your nose. I didnt even know noses age.

Botox for me maybe in the future, we'll see...I dont have anything on my body I want torn off or reshaped or broken, but I do have slight frown lines on my forehead that I dont want there...botox isnt plastic surgery, but cosmetic...anyway my bff is getting a tummy tuck in late July. She had a child about 5 years ago and got bad stretch marks and now has the loose sagging skin that will just continue to get more saggy as she continues to lose weight, so she's decided to go under the knife! It's all OK to discuss, but the actuality of it is frightening to me, even if your anaesthesiologist (not sure if I spelled that correctly) is top of the line, and you've checked out your doctor's history...My friend has only gone to this one doctor because she likes a certain technique he employs, but I wish she would get at least a couple more consultations...its forever!

I've never heard of that one but the only fda approved permanent filler in the US is arefill. Not many drs are offering it right now. Personally, I wouldnt do it. I believe your tested before to make sure your body wont reject it, but if you dont like it theres nothing you can do but cut your face open and scape it out. Even very experienced doctors can inject slightly unevenly and I dont think any doctor is experienced with artefill since so few people are doing it.

If you want something permanent I think a fat transplant is your best option. It's been done much longer so drs are more experienced with it. The problem with it that a lot of the fat cells are destroyed and success rate was only about 50%. My PS created a new method of extraction which upped it to about 80%, I'm thinking of maybe evntually having it done since I get juvederm right now but I'm not sure. I want to find out if its any easier to work with and could create a more natural result.
