What Are Your Thoughts On Plastic Surgery?

GG It looks fantastic! Your nose looks beautiful, and it really does your eyes look bigger. It made you look even prettier than before

I'm getting my nose done June 30th :woot:

GG you look gorgeous! As other posters said, you were gorgeous to begin with, but your eyes do look bigger! the change is very suttle I love it...my nose for some odd reason changed after I had my baby, I have a little bump now, I checked it and teh doctor said its nothing to worry about..I like how it looks straight on, and on one profile side, but the other profile it looks like its pointing downwards, which it never did before (age?), but hubby is totally against it but I would do it if I have time away from him if its so suttle he wouldnt notice (how long till the bruising goes away totally?)

Fashionlova, my boobs got smaller after the baby! I use to be a 32C, now I'm a 32B (a small B at that) I guess its because I lost alot of weight? and am 5-10lbs thinner than I was before I got pregnant ? but def when im done having kids, I would get my boobs done, just to a C, I never really cared about boobs and liked that mine were on the small side, and i NEVER show cleavage anyway, but after you have a baby I guess you notice it more..and i know 2 friends of mine who had it done and i didnt even know till a year later because it looks soo real!

BTW GG, your skin is FLAWLESS...whats your secret?

Thank you uniq, ida, angela, marya, justlooking and tiger!

uniq - the tendons in your nose do loosen as you age but your in your 20's right? I hope it doesnt start so soon! The scar tissue after rhinoplasty is actually supposed to act as extra support and help prevent aging. The bruises are easy to cover by the time the splint comes off, the recovery pic of me is day 2 with concealer.

If you do get it done I very highly recommend my PS. I posted a link that says a little about him. He specializes in rhinoplasty revision/reconstruction, has developed a lot of the techniques used today and travels around the world teaching other doctors. Top rhinoplasty docs usually charge 12-15k for a primary but he works for a hospital that controls his prices to half that amount which is great. He used to have a private practice but went back to a hospital because they help fund his research which he is really into. You might have heard about his latest study about what ages peoples, it's actually kind of intresting.

oh and my skin secret... my skin looks better in pics than it does in real life! I use la mer oil absorbing lotion, SK II masks, SK II airtouch foundation and I get microdermabrasion every few weeks which helps my skin look smoother and brighter but its far from perfect.

I'm considering having a nose job. It won't make a big difference - like you Gossip Girl, my nose is small, but I have a little bump and it bugs me.

I already found my surgeon - he did one of my friend's nose job ad it is really well done, really natural looking.

I met him a few times, etc, but something bothers me: he refused to show me before/after pictures. He said it was irrelevant. I said it would help me trust him by making sure he doesn't have strong "stereotypes" about what a nose should look like... I don't want to end up with a "Barbie" nose! But again he said no, he said everybody's case is different and it wouldn't help me.

Of course I can tell by my friend's nose that he is good - and he is supposed to be the best in my city. Still it makes me feel slightly insecure. Am I right? Should I just trust him?

Something else as well : I only asked to have this little bump removed and to make my nose slightly thinner - he said he should also shorten the tip of my nose. I was like - okayyy. I'm scared there will be too much space between my nose and my lips if he does that. What do you think?

Also, I have really big eyes (in a good way!). They really stand out, and I'm worried that if my nose get smaller my eyes will just eat my whole face !

I'd be interested to know what you think !!

Its all well that he did your friends nose and he is good at what he does but if your not 100 percent gelling well with the surgeon I would sit back and think about it. Perhaps do abit more research about him etc. Btw whats his name?

My surgeon doesn't believe in before/after pics. I trust her 100%.

If your not sure that your doctor and you have the same idea of what your nose should look like and he cant show you a picture, I think I'd find someone else. Even though he did a good job on your friend it doesnt necessarily mean he's a good surgeon, not go great surgeons will have happy patients too, just less of them. it's better to be safe than have to go through a revision.

Well, he said that if I don't want my nose to be shorter it's up to me to decide, and he'll only fix that little bump.

He acts like he knows better than me what he should do to my nose - which is probably true, but slightly worrying, lol.

Guessgirl, did your lips swell/bruise at all after the juvederm? If there was any bruising, did it last longer than 48 hours?

yes for both. my top lip swells like crazy for 2-4 days and then continues to go down for about 2 weeks. my bottom lip is better and only swells for a day or two. Bruises last about a week but for me have usually been on the inside of the lip, although I just got my bottom lip done and theres a big pruple bruise than everyone can see. Very minimal swelling and bruising on the nasolabial folds and marionette lines for me, those look normal about an hour after getting it done. There is a new type of collagen called evolence that is supposed to last similar to juvederm with less swelling and bruising, but it's new and not a lot of doctors are offering it.

I'm not sure if i bruise easier than normal but I do think my top lips swells more than normal. the rest of my face swells for 1-2 days just like your dr said. one person asked whats wrong with my lip, he thought I bumped it and it really does look that way. I think it depends on the people your around - juvederm is the last thing a lot of my friends would think of. Hopfully if you bruise it'll be on the inside where no one can see.

to reduce swelling and bruising dont take any asprin, ibuprofin, omega 3 or vitamin e for a week before, ice before and after and take some benedril the day of. hyaluronic acid is hydrophillic so drink as much water as you can for the first few days so it softens faster, it'll feel hard for a little while. The doctor I go to now doesnt do the dental block or ice since I think he mostly does it during surgery instead of in his office. I almost passed out the first time, make sure to ask for the dental block if you can.

thanks so much justlooking, I hope it goes well!

are you in aus too (I assume so, you say 'Uni')? can you tell me how you found your surgeon etc? :flower:

That's not really growth of the actual breast, but of the band size.

Anyway, I would really, really love plastic surgery, but I have so many priorities I don't know how I'd ever fit it in there, but for it to be effective, you have to have a good base, which I lack. So I don't think it would make too much of a difference. At the top of my list are my ears, which are too big and stick way out. My mom used to tease me about them until she realized I was really hurt by it. I don't know why she didn't do something about them when I was younger if it bothered her so much. And I wish my nose were thinner, shorter, and protruded less, but it's really beyond repair. :(

I am lucky in that naturally I have boobs that defy logic. But I feel this is my only trait I feel.

justlooking how did it go? If your not happy at first remember that even after the swelling goes down the filler needs some time to "settle"... it starts out hard almost like a gummi bear in your lips and you may be able to see the outline. It softens slowly, blends in and looks better everyday. I didnt know this and kind of freaked out the first time I got it done

Milada, i think it is awesome that you have boobs that defy logic. I think that's a brilliant quote.
