What coat are you buying this winter?

I'd invest in a really, really WARM coat: Meteorologists say this winter will be the coldest since 10+ years, at least here in Europe. Particularly the northern countries. :ninja:

oh no tott I didn't know that....I will have to get a new black one in that case

Worst news I've had all week  I HATE HATE the cold

Girls, remember... Meteorology is more or less qualified guesstimates, nothing is certain...

h&m have some fab coats-i got a vivienne westwood-esque one with bell sleeves, black-absolutely gorgeous!(uk)

I just can't decide how warm to go... I hate thicker winter coats...

i went ahead and bought the Triple5Soul long down/feather coat.
Wore it today - in rain and at 0 degreeCelsius --- not bad at all.
Hood is excellent - will be perfect to keep snow/sleet/hail off of face.
Coat is water resistant and doesn't make you look too chunky - for a down/feather coat.

Colours: black or grey or white or olive or pink.

i'll check out the site and see if i can send a pic

i'm still looking for one, i want a wool 3/4 length coat, but I can't seem to find a cute, affordable one!

i just bought a tommy hilfiger short white coloured blazer today - doesnt really get all that cold here ..

I'm wondering what men's overcoat can I find that's worth buying? With all the blazers I plan on using this season, none of my older coats will really work over them...

I'm gonna buy another coat in january. For one, the sales :D Secondly, I tend to get bored fashion-wise at that time of year. It'll be nice with something new, especially since it's incredibly cold from december to march, and a fabulous coat is a necessity.

That sounds like a perfect thing to do! I think I'll do the same. :flower:

maybe something like this

I'm not buying a new one this season.I have a classic 3/4 length black wool coat by Hugo Boss from last year, barely worn...it's classic and important for me,slimming.I've bought a couple of jackets though,my favourite being an unstructured, asymmetrical dark grey one by Mansharey.

I love some of the dress coats this year,I ADORE the Doo.Ri coat which two of our members have purchased, and I tried one a lovely Costume National trench last week...but most of these styles are just not flattering on short, curvy, busty people.

So I'll live vicariously through y'all...while I diet:lol: .

haha quirky, we see to have the same body issues (except I can't be bothered to diet)

Just realized that I really need a new winter coat and as I live away from home I have to support all the costs myself. I have a winter jacket from last year but it's a casual/boarding jacket and not really appropriate for working in the City.

It's tough when you want something that is high quality and chic/classic but don't have that much to spend. I don't mind the high street as long as everyone and their third husband doesn't have the same coat as me....but then the quality issue comes into it. I was looking around on yoox today and saw a nice emporio armani coat on the cheap, but it was the wrong size. It's tough...things here can be so overpriced. I saw a see by Chloe winter coat for £500+ which is just ridiculous for that haphazard diffusion line.

meg - zara coats are pretty good quality i think. i have a good grey one that looks excellent. also vintage shops are good for coats.

I agree on the Zara coats Meg...my previous one lasted 3 seasons....and they are generally very well cut too.

If you don't go for a too trendy one, they really don't scream Zara on the street. I never saw anyone in "my" coat, though they must have been around.Good luck!!!

Remember that Margiela coat that was Bergorf Goodman's buyer's pick of the season on the men.style.com feature? I think it's you.

I think those that Jun Takahashi did for Under Cover were brilliant and precisely my style....but alas,I can't afford anything designer at the moment.

Otherwise,I haven't even began looking in the shops. They're a bit bland and conservative for my taste...
