Caffeine, some of Anthropologie's stuff is crap, but some of it's great Like anywhere else, you just have to have an eye for the good stuff

Yeah...that's how I felt about Zara and H&M after walking into both stores for the first time in my life just this past Monday. I didn't look at the womenswear, so perhaps that section is better, but a lot of the menswear stuff looks like it would rip in half if i pulled at it slightly. Too much synthetic materials going on. A lot of the materials felt very cheap. The denim was worse quality than I had imagined, too.

And to answer the original question of this thread, I'm buying a....WAISTCOAT Can't wait to brave the Michigan winter with nothing but a waistcoat, short sleeve t-shirt and a skinny scarf draped around my neck when it's -30 degrees.

chanel your coat is simply fabulous! Well I'm not sure what kind or color of a coat I want. I am trying to stay away from black just because I would tend to buy a black coat (like my peacoat ). Last winter my dad bought me a pretty tan fur coat that I picked out only two problems.. #1 it didn't get cold enough to wear it here #2 now it's too big and I wore it maybe once if even that.. I think I might get a really pretty blue like in between a tiffany and a nice ice blue Not sure though.

absolutely true...couldn't agree more...
esp since they have multiple vendors...
there isn't necessarily one level of quality thoughout the store...
it varies...

*unlike zara or h&m...
which are just cheaply made mass-produced private labels...
but even at zara you can sometimes find a treasure...


imo...
if you only have one coat..
then i think you should invest in something classic and of superior quality...
but if you have a dozen or more...
then you will ordinarily have a variety of styles of varying quality levels...
i would not want to spend a fortune on a military style coat that is more of a 'trend' item in my world...
so zara or anthropologie could be just the ticket...

I'm gonna buy another coat in january. For one, the sales Secondly, I tend to get bored fashion-wise at that time of year. It'll be nice with something new, especially since it's incredibly cold from december to march, and a fabulous coat is a necessity.

soft last wk in zara i saw a black military coat
& it was absolutely gorgeous !
short of just below the hips . . . belts & buckles
but still v.subtle . . just hints of 'military'
maybe they'll have it in grey in NY ?

I'm thinking about buying a capelet/trapeze jacket since it doesn't get real cold here it could be just the thing! I saw this cute red onefrom Gap.com (thought I would post the others as well). I like the red one the best (it also comes in brown) it kind of reminds me of the little shrug sienna miller wore (sort of).
