where rainbows end is aimed at adults (it is a little predictable but i love the way its written in letter, diary iming, sms's etc. its not exactly the most challenging book to read but i just loved it, i was nearly in tears at one point!) and i capture the castle is teen-young adults i geuss, i highly recomened it, it is so beautifully written, i love the first lines " i write this sitting in the kiterchen sink". :flower:

Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro and the notebook/message in a bottle by nicholas sparks

I had to read this book in ninth grade and I didn't like it too much, but that's because I had to do projects, book reports, study questions, etc. on it. Thousands of others feel differently, so I'd say this book is worth a shot. It's a pretty short read too.

I wouldn't say that the book is religious, although it has religious elements (Fatima, the pilgrimage to Mecca). Basically, it is a story about fulfilling your dreams, overcoming depression/bad times, etc. There's some spiritual elements as well; they appear to "guide" the main character towards his dream.

There are manny books worth mentioning but I'm thinking about "Live Your Dream" by Joice Chapman. It's very practical, almost a step by step workbook for achieving your dreams.

no, it's kitsch for the modern pseudo-intellectual/pseudo-spiritial man...

what's it about/ B)

This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion marks the stunning debut of a provocative new voice in contemporary fiction: The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
This is the story of what it's like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie's letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.
Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting coming-of-age story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.
^_^.

^I thought that book was rather depressing. Although one anecdote from it has always stayed with me: Someone asks the boy to use one word to describe himself, and he replies "I am infinite."

'The Pilgrimage' by Paulo Coleho is one of the most awesome books Ive ever read.

It's about one man and his travels along the Road To Santiago. I was given it by a friend and to be honest thought it looked rather boring - but it was truly the most amazing book I have ever read. I couldnt put it down...

It is one mans journey - but the lessons he learns along the way are unreal...

Try it - I really do recommend it...

Enjoy!
