Givenchy disappointed me the most this season. Ever since he stopped showing his collections to the press, its like he lost any sense of originality and showmanship.
His last two collections were beautifully crafted, yes, but also incredibly boring. His best Haute Couture shows were the ones that had some kind of point-of-view. These two past collections were almost sleep-inducing.
I didn't particularly like Chanel this season, especially in comparison to last seasons extravaganza, but it felt new and modern in its casual and almost "dressed-down" attitude. Karl was the only one to really propose something new for Haute Couture this season.
My favourite collection was Valentino. It was a simple and straightforward, yet it had a sense of romance and intricacy that one could trace back to Valentino's roots in Italy. I really don't understand why people hated it. For me it was the essence of couture because it was elegant and timeless and not trendy (like the other shows were).
