SH*T!!! I sooooooo meant Phillip Lim, NOT Peter Som

don't feel bad- I always get them mixed up too-

my favorites were

Bottega Veneta- luxe with gorgeous details. I loved the color palette of coral, beige, ivory and black.

Celine- chic, wearable, grown up and Parisian. very sophisticated looking

Dior- though at first I thought this was too costume-y, I've seen one of the dresses on Mischa Barton, and I've decided that these pieces can be modernized if not worn exactly as they are on the runway. When mixed up a bit, many of these looks will be very chic

Givenchy- a wonderful evolution from the couture collection. Wonderful nautical looks, without being too literal. The pants shape I loved, and the detail work on the evening wear was divine

Hermes- this season was what Hermes should be always- grown up and expensive looking. The looks were pulled together and stylish, and very chic. All the coats- leather and crocodile skin were amazing, and if I were a multibillionaire, I'd buy the whole collection

Marc Jacobs- Love the fresh new silhouette and the grown up theme. The pants were a wonderful new shape, with the wider legs, and I love the 70's/ 30's mood.

Miu Miu- I loved the nipped waist jackets, pleated skirts, and interesting use of sheer fabrics. The silhouette to me is much more wearable than last season, and the shoes are gorgeous

Ralph Lauren- Usually I don't like his collections, because something about them seems somehow frumpy, or unstylish. This season, though still very mature, there were looks that were very chic. The slim dresses and the turtleneck sweaters were highlights

Zac Posen- His strength, eveningwear, was especially gorgeous this season. some of the sharp little suits for day were lovely as well

and i completely forgot about Gaspard Yurkievich,Alena Akhmadullina and Sharon Wauchob.

and Emma Cook
for London.

Roberto Cavalli Just because it wasn't sl*tty (much).
Sonia Rykiel Cuteness in a bottle.
Givenchy I finally discovered Ricardo Tisci.
Nina Ricci And then I discovered Oliver Theyskens.
Rick Owens Very basic. I'd kill for one of the leather jackets.
Hermes Badass. Totally unexpected.
Donna Karan I've had my eyes on her for a while, but she really won me over w/the bodysuits.
Chloé Very fresh. Chloé was stuck, Chloé needed some time off from the vintage-y lace-y stuff. And so did I.

Favorites
PARIS
- Anne Valerie Hash (a bit of a rebirth for her... )
- Txell Miras / Cibeles (Tenebrous and passionate...every single piece was special and beautifully complicated.)
- Sharon Wauchob (The draping and use of fabrics were supreme. Melancholic and beautiful... clothes to dream about.)
- Ann Demeulemeester (The delicate side of Ann and the jackets/skirts were flawless.)
- Givenchy (Tisci as an architect with fabric.)
- Charles Anatase (A fairytale I would escape to any day...!)
- Hartmann Nordenholz (Most individual collection, imo. They were finally able to thoroughly realize the beauty of their ambition.)
- Boudicca (A triumphant comeback. Already has made an impact on me with such little press.)
NEW YORK
- Zam Barrett (the skirts...! The cut and 'sharpness' of it all.)
- Vera Wang (heavily inspired by the Belgians but a beautiful inspiration, nonetheless.)
- Calvin Klein (A fresh, effective take on minimalism.)
- Zero Maria Cornejo (Flawless from start to finish.)
LONDON
- Margaret Howell (quirky conservatism @ it's best.)
- Victim by Mei Hui Liu (The lace detailing was precious and inspired.)
- Bora Asku (Very special clothing - really set a tone and mood for me.)
Honorable mentions
- Noir
- TSE by Tess Giberson
- Emma Cook
- Yohji Yamamoto
- Alena Akhmadullina
- Robert Normand
- Junya Watanabe
- Tao
- Lutz
- Dries Van Noten
- Rue de Mail by Martine Sitbon
- Sonia Rykiel
- Vanessa Bruno
Disappointments
- Alexander McQueen (The technique was there but the innovation was absent.)
- Comme Des Garcons (Amusing but lacked the usual CDG vigor.)
- Sophia Kokosalaski/Vionett (I can't wrap my head around the pitt of mediocrity she has, as of late, fallen into. Completely boring and safe.)
- Marni (Missing the charm and individualism of earlier collections.)
- Vivienne Westwood (Seems like her heart is no longer in it, sadly.)
- Peter Jensen (Missing his signature of whim.)
- Lanvin (Toooooo 'glam' and a bit tacky @ times, oddly enough.)
- Preen (Horrible shapes, disgusting colors and those sheer stockings... bad taste.)
- UNDERCOVER (A waste of talent and fabric..)

I feel obliged to hate Balenciaga, but I just can't find the heart to dislike it. Balenciaga was so weird this season, but in a good random messy way...whatever that means.

HATED:

Prada (what the hell)
Pucci (freaky)
All of the American collections (apart from Betsey and Heatherette)
Alexander McQueen...so disappointing.
Chanel....as usual
Chloe....this show is getting weirder and weirder.

Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci: Disappointment simply because his past collections, @ his own house and Rochas, were mesmerizing - pretty AND engaging.

Favorites of the season were Dior, Lacroix, Galliano, Burberry, Hermes, Chanel, Versace, and Balenciaga.

Hated Prada and Dolce & Gabbana (I didn't REALLY hate Dolce & Gabbana, but it was way too similar to SS 07 to be liked, in my opinion).

Overall, I felt this season was really good. There were many stand out collections (GALLIANO!!!!) and very few that urked me. Major improvement from SS 07.

Y'know...I've been thinking a lot about past fashion seasons that really stood out, and 2006 was an all around AMAZING year (especially the fall collections). I can't think of another year in recent memory that is as memorable as 2006.

I think that 2007 could have been a great year if it hadn't been for SS 07.

best:
John Galliano
Givenchy
YSL
Balmain
Sonia Rykiel
Dries Van Noten

THat's what i can think of right now...
i'll probably be back later to correct myself.:innocent:

Adam + Eve, Derek Lam, Charles Anastase, Galliano, Peter Som, a little Dior, Marc by Marc, and my guiltiest of guilty pleasures were some of the pieces at Elie Saab.

Best.
Givenchy. Riccardo really cleaned up and focused this seasons woman she was ready to walk off the runway and into real life.
those clothes will work in every city in the world from new york to moscow to tokyo givenchy will see the profit margin grow in a major way. giving him more confidence to really keep moving fashion fwd.

Balmain i love Christphe's short and sassy looks. they are ready for the la party girl circut. i could see almost all of these looks in maxfield.

Versace this season was donnatella at her best sleek sexy but not over sexed. i see the daywear selling well in new york in the fall.

Worst.

Chanel......what was karl thinking?

Bluemarine..... just plain ugly

hon mention

Best:

  • Givenchy - Tsici takes the essence of Givenchy and distills it into a strong, wearable, commercial and forward collection worthy of the house of Givenchy.
  • John Galliano - Absolument Fauleaux, the best of Paris, Galliano proves only he can meld a multitude of references into a cohesive collection and very forward collection.
  • Donna Karan - Donna is back-to-form, producing pieces that any woman would love to wear, clean, easy, very Donna Karan.
  • Calvin Klein - Fresh, modern minimalism without a hint of effot, best of NY.
  • Jean Paul Gaultier - Fabulous, what made Gaultier, Gaultier.
  • Hermes - Once again, uber-lux, uber-chic, with Gaultier's sense of humor.
  • Sonia Rykiel - The Perennially Parisien Sonia never disappoints, somehow she makes ruffles and biiig fur coats incredibly chic and fun. Adore her.
  • Ann Demeulemeester - The woman of hardness created easily the most fragile and light collection of the season, absolutely loved it.
  • Miu Miu - So fresh, the sheer twinsets and wool cocktail dresses, Miu Miu has eclipsed Prada in every possible way.
  • Yves Saint Laurent - If it wasn't for Galliano this would be the best of Paris, the collection was clean, fresh and very YSL in a new and unexpected way, also the accessories were spectacular.
  • Rick Owens - Though slightly repetitive I can't think of any other designer who I could watch all day long, he made me love shearling.

Mediocre:

  • Balenciaga - While I liked it, it was much too jarring of a transition for Nicolas, someone mentioned that he might think whatever he does is gold, unfortunately, he's wrong.
  • Balmain - I did like it, but it verged on tacky Elvis impersonator w/ the bellbottoms and crystals on the jeans.
  • Burberry Prorsum - I did like it, it's just Christopher is getting so repetitive I cant call it good. NO MORE BELTED WAISTS.
  • Alexander McQueen - Unfortunately this seemed like more of a "look how artsy I can be" exercise than true fashion. Everything seemed still and forced, the antithesis of McQueen.
  • Lanvin - Im so over the look Alber has created for Lanvin, I want clean rigidity not slouchy brightly colored taffeta. And those wigs! Who is he kidding?
  • Bottega Veneta - They're getting so boringly repetitive, I cant take another woven clutch, those empire waist goddess dresses...He should be arrested for attempted murder.
  • Proenza Schouler - I love the eighties and I liked this collection I just think everything was slightly off somehow from making it perfect

Worst:

  • Marc Jacobs - So completely contrived, I cannot believe Marc is trying to pretend like he has a chic bone in his body. I did like the jewlery however.
  • Louis Vuitton - Take Marc's mainline, make it crappier and you've got Louis Vuitton, the bag atrocities don't help thier case either.
  • Armani - He's not worth reviewing anymore, it's always a snooze.
  • Dior - Unfortunately, I was completely underwhelmed by this collection, everything was sooo off and soo completely uninspired I couldnt let the amazing bags deter this decison.
  • Fendi - After two amazing seasons Karl goes back to producing straight up CRAP for Fendi, everything is terrifying.
  • Chanel - The quilted satin bags can't help this absolutely terrible collection. It literally makes me wanna puke. Horrid.
  • Gareth Pugh, Heatherette, Giles Deacon, Jeremy Scott - They're all not worth my time, all sucked supremely.
