Whitney Port

^ I wonder...it's only a few weeks away now...sounds funny she wouldn't have a date, time and location- there are a lot of people to organize for one of these things, you'd think somebody would know what with invites, lighting, hair, make up, models, publicity...and then she's still in LA??

Whitney tweeted a week or so ago that she would be doing a presentation at NY Fashion week. I assumed she meant a private showing.

^Whitney has been back in LA since the City wrapped filming. I don't buy that she really ever lived in NYC. She only films there. She certainly never really worked for DVF or People's Revolution.

So true.

Her NY apartment was up for lease a while back too, wasn't it? I think there was a post on this thread about it. It was about two months ago, or something. About the time she headed back to LA.....

^ Yup- I posted it...the whole thing is phony...I mean, to start with: The apartment was $4,000/mo (plus utilities); generally rental agents want to see an income where the rent is one quarter of one's income to make sure you can afford it...Where in Heaven would Whitney get $16,000 a month in income!!? It is all so ridiculous....

^I am sure Whitney has $16,000/month and then some.... She probably makes at least 1 million year from the show, her endorsements and not to mention her appearance/hosting fees. However, I highly doubt she was paying for the NYC apartment... most likely MTV was footing the bill.

the most obvious proof that she never worked in people's rev (apart from the fact that she was shoved in a little back room away from the normal staff) is the fact that on 'kell on earth' they never showed her, working or just in general, neither did kelly mention her line that she was at one point doing PR for.

Oh MTV would definitely be footing the bill for that apartment. And Whitney would probably earn more than the month's rent per episode. I remember hearing that one of the Hills cast (Audrina??) was getting 20k per episode, so you can imagine what Whitney would be getting for the City. A LOT.

^ Well Heaven knows this was a write off for MTV and not out of her pocket- but that was my point- it was not at all as it was being presented...the apartment was basically a set for the show- she wasn't renting anything! Has there been any update on her show during Fashion Week? It is coming up real soon; somebody in the business would have to be putting it together by now, I would think....

yes she clearly would be able to afford it as whitney port in real life, but the whitney port in the show - her character would not be able to afford it at all! its kinda why roxy was begging her dad for money.

I agree with Whitney on screen and Whitney off camera. 2 totally different people literally living in different cities. I know 'The City' is rather fabricated, but still it's just really strange shes like that

^ Well, Elle is a real magazine, and they have actual offices in NY...that's about it, I guess!

i think magazines and actual companies like DVF (and even, sort of, people's rev) lose so much credibility and i respect them so much less when they allow cameras to come in, push real staff in corners, and film fake people pretending to be working there for a show. i mean, is that really the sort of publicity that industry veterans like diane are looking for?

^ i agree - show some realisic aspects if you allow the filiming in ur workplace

i remember the thing that annoyed me the most was when her and LC interned at Teen Vogue and not only did they have their own desks and computers, but whitney was actually sent to paris as an intern. i mean, i've done my share of magazine internships and i was only ever sent to the grocers to get more coffee for the office!

^ haha i think hours in the fashion cupboard and running around juggling 20 million things at same time wouldnt have had the same interest so they found that it easier to film them in a make believe planet where interns go to Paris and chill at a desk the whole day.

^ Yes- I think of this and other 'reality' shows as comic books- meaningless entertainment that bears only a passing resemblance to the real world... (Although I know that Batman is real, but I digress...) B)
