Who are your least favorite designers?

Stella McCartney - She churns out the same uninspired collections year after year. The collections are usually similar to something that has been sitting in H&M for six months previous.

jeremy scott- quite craptastically tacky

House of Holland is quite repetitive and overly ubiquitious. I like their tees but it doesn't really merit a fashion show

^Agree completely. Despise Jerey Scott and House of Holland.

Also, not entirely fond of Yohji Yamamoto

I have no personal favorites and nor should you guys. They have something we don't have. Our own Fashion houses with the best or worst of garments. Designers always have up and downs and by just listing how crappy their work might, be is just wrong. That makes us haters for not having what they have. Their wealthy doing what they do so creating crap is something that they can justify because they can work a little harder next season.

New York Fashion week is a selling period for American Fashion. American designers work to sell there products for mass market. not as art work that will probably just end up in a rack of a closet. New York Fashion week present designers that have constancy in what they design, It may be a little boring but when looked from the marketers point of view is almost like couture. Remember Americans are money hungry and if it takes mass production to get the money then so be it. ;)
That is quite possibly the most insulting and self righteous post I've read on this topic. What on earth makes you think that the only reason people dislike a designer is because they're jealous of that designers' success? That's rediculous. I don't normally take it upon myself to speak for others, but in this case I will, don't you think that if someone says they don't like a designers' work it could be because they genuinely do not like the clothes that designer produces?

And I'd like to point out that just because a designer has their own label and puts on a runway show season after season doesn't necessarily mean they have talent or anything original or exciting to offer the fashion world.

Stella McCartney - celebrity studded awards after-party frocks. you've got a little something on your nose, sweetie.

DSquared - camp excess. vulgar. wet dream for the brothers though.

Jeremy Scott - was good when he lived in Paris. Since moving back to the USA he's been all consumed with cartoonish designs and the whole boring 'oh look how meaningless and stupid celebrity culture is' thing. yeh american cultural imperialism is on the nose. and so are the clothes. move back to Paris pronto!

Dolce and Gabbana - nonplusssed and not fussed! OK for materialistic and opportunistic people.

John Richmond. I would also say Roberto Cavalli but i think the brand has improved lately - it used to just sew random crap together

I speak my mind. ;)

dsquared is just tacky, same as cavalli and proenza schouler, heatherette and blabla all tacky!!!!!!!!!

stella mccartney is shite!!!!!! i am always surprised how she can come up with that horrible stuff

I cant stand veronique leroy

jeremy scott is so overrated!! and not even funny

alexander mcqueen nowadays, he should be shocked back to the now and try to make a fashionable collection. he should be punished for his tacky vision on fashion nowadays

I speak my mind. ;)

coincidentally u live in new york

how weird that you would think that american fashiondesigners are designing for mass market-production only or mostly?

funny that YOU should mention that its just about $$$$$ (money) and that that is the reason why its so utterly boring

so thats what fashion is about in US.
Oh wait DUH:yuk:

u wouldnt even get accepted to a European school with that attitude. Let alone find the chance to start your own label

Why start my own label? when I can go join some else's mess. I don't need your motivational speech. A school in Europe will nor increase a skill nor make you a better person. Fashion school is simply Fashion school. It doesn't matter where you, it's how much you get.

Mass production keeps a label a float. Not how great you can present a "theatrical" collection, or how prestigious a label is. EVERYTHING in Fashion is about Money. Boring or Exciting!!

Feel free to mock me and say what ever you want. :p

Fashion is a business.
Why do all these designer spend so much money on their shows, handing out free clothing to celebrities, and ads. They expect to get money back.

It would be nice to do something entirely b/c you love it but mortage, bills, and maintaining an expensive lifestyle (like some of the designers) require lots of money and they need to get the money some place.

It would kind of be naive to assume that designers go into the business b/c they love clothes and clothes only. Most of them go into the business b/c of their love of clothing, their love of glamour, and the possiblility of making huge amount of money.

I don't think it is wrong to go into the business with the idea of making a lot of money as long as they have the talen to back it up.

Stella Mcartney- I don't see anything special in her designs, they just look like overpriced high-street items, so much hype around her work. I don't understand why she showcases in Paris?!? Why not London or New York?

I agree 100%

This is why so many Fashion designer are not in business. They get to carried away with the artistic aspect only.
