Who are your least favorite designers?

I concur with those choices,Mutter.

That reminds me.....Libertine. And it's not so much for what they do but the massive, pretentious price tags they attach to what they do. Vintage clothes with just silk-screened prints...no justification at all. If they actually made the clothes-the silhouettes-instead of merely re-using vintage clothes I might have a different opinion but it's really not worth it.

Most designers at NYFW:

Badgley Mischka
Behnaz Sarafpour
Temperley
Carolina Herrera
Diane Von Furstenberg
J. Mendal
Lacoste
Sass&Bide
Kenneth Cole
Monique Lhuillier
Oscar De La Renta
Tuleh
Vera Wang

and so on...

From Other Fashion weeks, I also have little care for Armani (Giorgio & Emporio - the stuff is almost identical from season to season, and while the pieces are classic items and timeless (like well cut suits), the same ideas have been recycled for too long), Cavalli, Julian Macdonnald, Blumarine (& Blugirl) and Missoni.

gius, like this whole artsy/craftsy thing she's been doing....there's a few indies that have been doing this for some time and all of a sudden it's become her mantra....but it's the aesthetics of it all...it all looks suspiciously and consistently borrowed from those lesser knowns. Not to mention, some of these gimmicky quirky accessories she's done....too much like Bernhard and Marjan, imo.
Ah I see what you mean now
Even her very early collections didn't seem to be as artsy like now. Sometimes it reminded me of Dries van Noten... Also, I recognised Pejoski when I saw her bird-inspired collection for spring '05. It's kind of the same idea, using the bird's neck for a collar...I immediately thought Björk/swan!
I guess it's awful Prada is noted so much by editors as being innovative. If you never know about the lesser-known designers (or have no interest in it), it's almost like Prada takes the credit for their work. But not necessarily all Miuccia's fault...since she works with a team that designs/styles for her :ninja:

Roberto Cavalli- he's in jail and his clothes are a tacky extravaganza.
Dsquared- unfortunately their concept became and last season trend that died out.
Giorgio Armani- his core aesthetic of minimalism has turned into a bad mattelier.
Betsy Johnson- Although I don't mind her personality. Her fashion shows ain't no Valentino Couture.
Yves Saint Laurent- I know I'm going to get trashed for being critical of the last great designer of our time but I just personaly think his look wasn't as revolutionary as everyone thinks--. His look back then was the way everyone was starting to dress, not his discovery or invention.
John Galliano- he is a bit annoying but I respect some of his designs. hard to take him seriously sometimes.
Karl Lagerfeld- this man has his head stuck up his @$$.
John Charles de Castelbajac- yuk yuk , ick, gross, blah!!
Carolina Herrera- tries too hard.
Oscar de la Renta- tries too hard.

Dsquared - tacky, overpriced junk (especially the shoes)
Burberry (not Prorsum) - Always been the same, always will be the same
Juicy Couture - Ugly tracksuits, boring t-shirts, and over-cute charms.

i don't like tack and boredom

who else.... I hate Cavalli, just cant stand his things, they look always really trashy... and remind me "New Money" or footballers' wives..

i'd agree buddleja! and i don't like versace, though i think she caters perfectly to women like liz hurley or the "miami clientele".

d'squared menswear and tara subkoff are pretty scary, too.

i absolutely hate tommy hilfiger, especially his ads with these ubiquitous teenage WASP snotnoses as models

I pretty much cant stand anything from New York fashion week apart from a few.
Karl Lagerfeld...boring, ugly, too basic and far far far too overrated.
Marc Jacobs....ALL his designs are boring. Usually collections will have at least ONE thing that I like, but Ive never seen anything that I like from thsi guy.
Dries Van Noten....What the hell is up with all the hype around him, his fashion is revolting.
Marni.....Too ugly to even say whats wrong with this label.

House of Dereon: Nastiness
balenciaga: alien styles does not equal hot/sexy/wearable
calvin klien: boring the same thing every wear
juicy couture: trash...plain and simple

House of Dereon is not considered a designer

Armani has to be on my worst list :yuk:

lol @ House of Dereon. I wouldnt consider it as a designer either, just a clothing label, thats all.

definitely Galliano... I mean sometimes he does a great job, but most of the time, I think he's just crazay.
Marc Jacobs, no matter how much I used to love him, but he's going down...
Michael Kors, wtf is with him? I still remember the pieces he did for Celine, they were wonderful... but these days? so blah
DVF, queen of the wrap dress, indeed, but why wrap dress? and those prints, ergh...
Vera Wang, seriously, where's the design? just putting random stuff together don't count.

Karl Lagerfeld - Aside from the big ego, his designs aren't much to celebrate over. He is rather intelligent, however; he realizes that he can sell practically anything he produces, thus the reason why he designs such awful pieces of clothing.

Marc Jacobs - His designs for his own line and Louis Vuitton are gradually becoming more and more similar. He can do whatever he pleases with his Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs lines, but Louis Vuitton is not his place to experiment with designs.

I'm a little confused by this.

What exactly is random about her designs?

I've decided to add Fendi to my list because it's been in such a slump. I know it has it's fair share of fans, but lately it's become kind of ugly to put it plainly. Not to mention the amazing techniques they became known for are laking as of late.

NY "IT" designers-Porenza Schouler/Zac Posen and such-too much hype and not enough talent,if you ask me.

So glad I came across this thread. I can't stand these 3 and I'm glad to find out I'm not the only one. Ditto what Scott said and they also look slimy.

If I wrote here what I really think of these 3 esp PS I would be banned cause it's really horrible to say out loud.

I not happy with the current designer at Chloe but I'll give him a chance until we see his 2nd collection but if it sucks then he is on my list.

I have no personal favorites and nor should you guys. They have something we don't have. Our own Fashion houses with the best or worst of garments. Designers always have up and downs and by just listing how crappy their work might, be is just wrong. That makes us haters for not having what they have. Their wealthy doing what they do so creating crap is something that they can justify because they can work a little harder next season.

New York Fashion week is a selling period for American Fashion. American designers work to sell there products for mass market. not as art work that will probably just end up in a rack of a closet. New York Fashion week present designers that have constancy in what they design, It may be a little boring but when looked from the marketers point of view is almost like couture. Remember Americans are money hungry and if it takes mass production to get the money then so be it. ;)
