Why do people hate Kate Moss?

I'm not surprised and I doubt it's jealousy. I'm a big fan of Kate but it's exactly understandable why people had bad things to say about her portraying Marilyn Monroe. The most reason being Marilyn is known for being curvy and having a full figure and Kate Moss, well...we all know what she is. They're exact opposites.

It's because Marilyn Monroe was known for being curvy and Kate Moss is known for being a waif. It's like an insult to people who love Marilyn.

Also - the community you're posting in is Oh No They Didn't. That's not exactly "Happyland Central". There's a ton of celebrities they don't like: Angelina Jolie (for flaunting her kids), Kirsten Dunst (for being ugly. or something?), Nicole Ritchie (for being too skinny), Paris Hilton (for being a skank), Jessica Simpson (ditto), Britney Spears (for getting fat after marriage), etc. The list goes on. It's not a reflection of what the general public thinks of Kate Moss.

ONTD is a community full of drama and insults. The main purpose is to poke fun at celebrities and insult them. The only things not allowed are personal attacks at each other.

yesterday I watched miu miu show on the and most of the models looked like E.T ,it was like a freak show
there aren't so much beautiful models anymore ,and I don't know why brands like chanel or prada use 15-16 years old models.A 16 year old teenager can not afford these brands.I wanna see women on the catwalk, not waif 16 years old girls who cant even walk

I think the reason some people dislike Kate is the same reason people are so obsessed with disliking people like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Because they're thin, rich, like to party (which apparently is a crime if you're famous) and don't have any particular "talents" except looking good in a photo.

It's understandable but still extremely immature.

On the same token, it can be argued that it is silly to be so concerned with someone who hasn't contributed to society besides being a pretty face. While it is definitely no crime to be beautiful, it seems trite to idolize someone solely for aesthetic reasons.

People say it's "pathetic" to dislike someone for being beautiful and having fun, and I agree. But I also think it's just as bad to idolize someone for those same qualities.

I'm not attacking any Kate fans (or fans of any other models, for that matter), I just think this is an interesting discussion and would like to hear your responses. Why do so many people love Kate Moss? I agree she has great personal style, but why do people feel they have to like her personality as well as her style? For me personally, her personality and her style are mutually exclusive, does anyone else feel the same way?

I agree. I am a huge Marilyn fan. And I loved the editorial to be honest. Its actually my favorite. She is almost the exact opposite of Marilyn, but in some of the pictures, she makes you believe she is Marilyn.

I think people who love her personality are really loving the kate moss persona that is conveyed to us mainly by the media in her interviews and surrounding hype. Kate moss has been classified as a cool, fun-loving, carefree london girl and I think some people love or identify with that image as much as others love the image her style conveys.

I don't hate her. Hate is such a strong word. She just bugs me. I don't think I've ever seen a photoshoot I've been amazed by. And for me personally I find her look bland. But then that's just my tastes, and she doesn't appeal to what I like.

Though for people to create entire threads based on how much they say they hate someone when they can't even come up with a reason for it seems kind of, well dull. But then people are very possesive of their idols and yes, some people are just jealous. Sad but true.

I think Kate's overrated. She's too skinny to be imitating the voluptuous Marilyn Monroe, who was physically perfect. But sometimes I wonder why is there still so much hype about Monroe; she's been dead for how long? Her face is STILL on t-shirts and purses. I've got to admit that that woman definitely has longevity, along with Elvis.

I guess like someone said before, it gets on my nerves to hear everyone say "Oh she looks so good" or "that outfit is hot", when she never brushes her hair. I guess some people like unkept hair and such, it's just not my personal preference.

I think anyone who is photographed as much as she is, and is photoshoped as much as she is, is bound to have a good portfolio at least.

Look at her latest Dior and Louis Vuitton advertisments. They are HORRENDOUS.
