Hi, I'm new to the board as a member. I guess needless to say I like turtlenecks and I'm wondering if they'll ever come back like they were in the 90's. I sometimes feel hopelessly out of date from October to March, lol.

pff why worry? I love black turtlenecks as long as they aren't ribbed. I actually have a really lovely black one made out of a thin cotton by Juicy :ninja:

Well, the other part of the question is I like seeing them being worn by others. Its a very attractive look, don't you all think?

I don't think they'll ever be considered "out of style" - especially in colder climates; they DO serve a purpose: to keep one's neck warm.

Turtlenecks

Im sure that like evrything turtlenecks will eventually come into fashion. If you love turtle ncks why not try wearing them with hot fashionable jeans and then you may even start your own trend and you will look great being yourself while being relli fashionable

Good luck

Cate

i love them..I have one in white it's very comfy, and as cate says it looks great with a cute pair of jeans.

Will they ever come "back" umm...yes most definitely because everything seems to come back

but i wouldn't say they were out of fashion either

Turtlenecks are a pretty classic item of clothing - so no, I dont believe they are actually "out of style". Personally, I dont wear it because I have large breasts, and it just makes them look even larger.

^ Agreed. I've always thought of them as a classic. Cashmere turtlenecks in cream and black are a backbone of my winter wardrobe :flower:

difinitely a classic.

i was shopping yesterday and i kept seeing a lot of victorian inspired stuff for fall. so i saw a lot of turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks.

Black turtleneck and white jeans - it is classic - Jackie O. invention

I think turtleneck's are a classic! My favorite one is a black cable knit (cool design) turtleneck. It has pills (little balls) now so I need to throw it out:cry:

I Love 'turtle necks' alot of people I know refer to them as polo necks. I love the fine knit ones in a plain colour, especially black and navy, they can look great in the winter with a skirt opaque tights, boots/mary janes and a nice coat or jacket. I think the dark colours look very chic, and I love when the neck of the top is long, none of this stubby neck turd. I really dislike necklaces, short ones in particular on top of them though, reminds me of the hunting lot with their polos and padded gilets with pearls over the top

I think it's the chunky knit ones that are more likely to be predominantly 'in' and 'out' of fashion, but in my opinion the fine knit ones are a classic.

Absolutely agree about them being classics! I have a truckload of them in cotton, wool, cashmere in blue, grey, black, beige. Love 'em!

A good, black cashmere turtleneck is one of THE basics that should be in every wardrobe.

Well... honestly, I wear them like they're going out of style...

there's a time when some items are worn more than others. but the turtleneck never went away. ppl w/classic taste in clothing never get rid of theirs. the young are wearing them more now. i see them coming back into the wardrobes as it comes with the layering trend for fall.

I like turtlenecks...I don't wear them too often, I think the neckline makes my round face look even rounder. They are great for skiing, and winter sports, I have a drawer full of Kombi turtlenecks. IMO, they will never go out of style.

Will they make a comeback? Were they ever gone then? I've always loved them and indeed, I think it's a very attractive look on women, not nesecarily on men.

I really hope not. My Grandma used to buy me tons of them and I always HATED them. My parents made me wear them and I couldn't stand it. I'll never get into a turtle neck as long as I live no matter how trendy/ popular they become.
