It is very dark bown, though. Almost black. That's just perfect, because black would be too harsh on me.

It's so good to see you guys don't stop being stylish even in winter. It's sad to see most people don't take much attention to their winter coats here.

CHIC and WARM Winter Coats... do they exist?

Title is pretty much self explanatory, and I've been struggling with it for years. I was wondering if anyone else has been or or has found a soultion to a chic AND warm winter coat.

The only coat i could come up with was the Norma Kamali "sleeping bag" coat... but im not sure about it.

Thoughts, opinions, and new suggestions welcome.

You should try out some wool jackets. Imo wool is the best fabric for wintercoats, it keeps you warm and can def. look chic!

I'ld go for a half long coat in wool or cashmere (angora/mohair mix) that tie around the waist,they're chic and warm and depending on your budget you can find them in zara,max mara, apostrophe, emporio armani etc

I agree with wool, haven't tried kashmere. But the word with this is; quality. I bought myself a classic, slim, black coat made of Italian wool, and it is wonderfully warm, and at the same time probably my favourite garment, since it doesn't look "big" or thick, it is very well designed. I hope I do not sound as if I am full of myself, but I love my coat. I live in Scandinavia, and it does get cold in winters here, but I am comfortably warm in my woollen coat.

another, warmer option is a super-trim 3/4 length down coat. i just got one by cole haan that has a definite waist and isn't at all huge or puffy, with an exaggerated pillow-collar and interesting quilting, hidden pockets, etc. found it in marshalls for ~$250. it's really surprisingly chic for the coldest days, and doesn't make annoying swishy noises when i walk here are others along those lines:

Zara has definitely chic and warm winter coats. I adore mine.

I got a wonderful woolen duffle coat last month that I absolutely love! It hasn't been very cold here yet so I don't know if it will keep me warm enough (although it never gets that cold here), but I suppose and hope that it will.

I agree with wool. It's my favorite coat fabric. But it really depends on how warm you need it. I always have to wear extra clothes underneath to truly stay warm in below freezing weather.
