Your Beauty Routine

^ i use Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque twice a week. havent found a better mask!

Wow...
This thread is making me think my "wash face with water, then put aloe vera gel"-routine could do with some evolving...

I can't read the whole thread, but what do you think of not using water at all when cleansing your face?
I am trying to do that now and I must say my skin looks radiant, much better than with my water routine. But I am afraid that the skin can't be clean if not with water... So I clean it with water twice a week! What do you think guys?

So my routine is now,

morning:
Avène cleanser lotion
La Roche-Posay toner
Moisterizer (sometimes Nuxe, sometimes Simple, sometimes Lush!)

evening:
Avène cleanser lotion
La Roche-Posay toner
Moisterizer if my skin needs it

Once a week, I use a Vichy foaming cleanser (so... to use with water!), usually in the evening.

Feels very minimalist! I am trying to go as simple as possible.

^ I do the same as you do. My skin doesn't tolerate water very well, it gets so bumpy and dry when I cleanse with water everyday. But just to get it deep cleansed I cleanse with a foaming cleanser twice a week, followed by a scrub

Face:
Korres Thyme & Sage cleanser
Kiehls moisturizing cream
La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen

Hair:
Jason jojoba shampoo

Body:
Whatever shower gel is cheaper
Jason aloe vera body lotion

Crikey! Do people seriously devote so much time to a beauty routine? Mine lasts for about 3 mins. The only thing I ever do is cleanse my face, slap on sunscreen, use vaseline on my lips and an under eye cream before I go to sleep. I don't - and never have, ever - used any sort of make-up whatsoever. I do use body creams, though, as they smell good.

Spoke too soon.

In the dying months of last year, years of staggering neglect and abuse had finally caught up. Unbelievable stress and unhealthy eating habits, combined with a lack of exercise just took it's toll, and it wasn't pretty.

I had to revamp my entire skincare schedule. From nada I went to a veritable product wh*re. I still don't use any make-up, though. Application of makeup looks so completely mind boggling to me. Unlike skincare, make-up needs to be "done properly" and is just so much more hassle, in that the only thing one needs to know about applying creams is to massage it properly, unlike application of make-up which involves a plethora of brushes fora plethora of products. I just don't have the time for it, and if there's one thing worse than not wearing make-up, it wearing make-up incorrectly and looking one hot mess.

Anyway, so my skincare regime looks something like this.

AM

Cleanser: Darphin Aromatic Cleansing Balm With Rosewood or Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
Facial Mist: Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray or Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
Toner: Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner
Exfoliator: Biologique Recherche Lotion P50
Serum: Institut Esthederm Molecular Care Intensive Propolis Concentrated Formula Serum and Institut Esthederm Intensif Vitamine C Concentrated Formula Powder Serum
Antioxidant Cream: Institut Esthederm Molecular Care Intensive Vitamin C Cream
Moisturiser: Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream or Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, if my skin feels oily.
Eye Cream: Sisley Sisleya Eye and Lip Contour Cream
Sunscreen: La Roche Posay Anthelios

PM

Precleanser: Nude Facial Cleansing Oil or Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil
Cleanser: Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser or Nuxe Reve de Miel with the Clarisonic Pro
Facial Mist: Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray or Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist
Toner: Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner
Exfoliator: Biologique Recherche Lotion P50
Serum: Institut Esthederm Molecular Care Intensive Propolis Concentrated Formula Serum and Institut Esthederm Intensif Vitamine C Concentrated Formula Powder Serum
Antioxidant Cream: Institut Esthederm Molecular Care Intensive Vitamin C Cream
Moisturiser: Nuxe Crème Étincélante or Sisley Restorative Facial Cream with Shea Butter. Every so often I also alternate with the Darphin Aromatic Purifying Balm
Eye Cream: Sisley Sisleya Eye and Lip Contour Cream

Crazy, eh? Only it works and my skin looks markedly better.

I have a question:

I do not wear makeup, so in the morning I cleanse, use toner, and apply moisturizer with spf 30 (La Prairie Anti Age Day Creme). That's it. I just purchased primer for my face in order to minimize the appearance of pores. My question is: should I put the moisturizer on first, or the primer? I want to make sure the SPF in my moisturizer is still effective.

Thanks! :flower:

^ It depends if your sunscreen is chemical (it will bond with the skin so you could put your primer on top) or physical (like titanium dioxide thich needs to stay on top of the skin to reflect harmful rays to put it simply). The best would be if your primer also had some spf in it!

My routine is quite elaborate, but it has to be, when one is in mid-30s

Morning:
I have a very dry skin with normal skin in my t-zone so I am avoiding tap water - I will spray my face with Avene water (spray) and pat some Bioderma Hydra Bio tonic.

Then I will put some light, hydrating serum (Philosophy 'Hope is not enough' at the moment) under my sunscreen (in winter I will use hydrating baby sunscreen by Klorane with spf 50 and high UVA protection). I do not use separate eye cream, just put the serum and sunscreen all over, neck included.

Makeup routine changes depending on my mood and how my skin feels:

I have mineral foundations (Laura Mercier) and liquid ones (Dior Forever and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua which is great for travelling with), I will put concealer under my eyes (Vichy Dermablend in tube or Clarins Eclat minute in brush form but also several concealers by Helena Rubinstein, Estee Lauder and Clinique) and on blemishes (I do not get them very often so I am usually using light, reflective concealers).

Cream blush is a must (I have just bought a new No7 cream blush designed by Lisa Eldridge) and I will also use a highlighter (Dior is my favourite), powder the t-zone with Rimmel powder (Clear complexion line) and then spray with Clarins Makeup - Fix mist.

Then the eye makeup:

I have to use an eyeshadow base as my lids are quite deep set and eyeshadow on its own does not last long unfortunately - so it will be a quick setting cream shadow (Paintpots by MAC or Benefit ones) as a base and a dark eyeshadow smudged by the eyelashes - usually Chanel or Guerlain singles. I have recently started to curl my eyelashes with a Shu Uemura eyelash curler and the I will use a black mascara (Dior Extase or No7).

On my lips I will use Dior Addict Shine lipstick in a coraly pink, very natural or a Chanel lip gloss. These are the best and they hydrate and plump my lips. I have really only one lipstick which I do not use very often...

In the evening, I will try to take the make up off as soon as I get home:

First I will take my eyemakeup with a 2 phase oily makeup remover (Clinique Take the day Off or Garnier sensitive is a recent favourite), face makeup comes off with a La Roche Posay micellar gel and then I will take the rest of the dirt with a Garnier rose milk.

When I am tired or simply lazy I will cleanse twice with Origins Cleanse Off Oil. Spray with Avene water and put some Bioderma tonic.

I will usually put some exfoliating cream with glycolic or lactic acid and Nanobase around my eyes or some face oil (Clarins or Sanctuary) all over face, neck and udereye area.

Uff, that is all

morning:
Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion

night:
same products/steps as in the morning

and once a week I use the mint face mask by Queen Helene, and also an exfoliate that I can't remember the name of at the moment. ^_^ it's almost too simple of a routine..

Morning

African soap - Dudu Osan
Alcohol free toner - Clarin
Face lotion - Vichy Normaderm Triple Action Anti-Ance Hydrating lotion

Night

African soap - Dudu Osan
No moisturizer at night
Lip balm - By Terry Baume De Rose lip balm
Hand lotion/cream - L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

wow, some people use so much stuff :P:wink:

i have easy breezy routine

this is what i do every day:
morning and nights i wash my face with LUMENE matt touch gel and put Aqualan L cream (i use it to my face and whole body)
and i use organic bodywash and shampoo is REDKEN extreme also conditioner is REDKEN extreme anti-snap.

if i need to do scrub i just make my own mix from honey and sugar.

BLISTEX is my favourite lipbalm.

i rarely blow dry my hair anymore but if i do i spray some heath protect spray and that´s it.
oh, and if i have split ends or annoyingly all over the place i put little WELLA enrich hair ends elixir here and there.

and make-up, i am so bad with make-up.
if i use that i put some BB lotion from garnier and little powder from LUMENE.
one thing i do every day is to put some colour in my eyebrowns, LUMENE have the best eyebrown pencels.
when i was younger i had more effort but i just hate the way make-up feels in my skin.
i rather let my skin breath and try to get the best skin ever by healthy lifestyle and drinking lot´s of water. that way do not even need any make-up. yay!

Yeah, some beauty routines are so advanced, I don't have time to do half of that stuff. Amazing.

Morning

I wash my face with Sebamed Clean Skin soap, then use Avene Cleanance tonic, then La Roche Posay compact, Avene mosaique powder and La Roche Posay mascara.

Evening

Take my 'make up' :D off with Vichy Purete Thermale micellaire lotion-water. Apply Avene Hydra Optimale and Skinoren cream.

Sometimes I use some Avene exfoliator, but very rarely. I don't like wearing make-up, so that's not a problem.

Morning and night I have the same beauty routine.

Cleanser - Cosmedix: Purity Clean
Lotion - Kose: Vital Plus White Q10 Arbutin
Serum - Cosmedix: Lightning (for the morning); Aspect: Retinol Brulee (for the night)
Moisturiser - Kiehls: Activated Whitening

I have a bunch of leave-on masks for night time, and I decide on which one to use by evaluating my current skin situation. For example, if my skin is dry and sensitive one day I'll use a Aloe Vera restoring hydrating mask (The Body Shop), and if my skin is looking dull and lifeless the next, I'll opt for a job's tear whitening and cooling gel (Naruko).

I think it is very important to spend a minute or two everyday to look into the mirror and ask your skin how it is feeling, in order to give it the right treatment.

Recently switched up my routine, and I'm really happy with how it's working ^_^

Morning
L'Occitane Foaming Rice Cleanser
Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner
Origins Origins VitaZing™ SPF 15 Energy-boosting Moisturizer or Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
L'Occitane Immortelle Precious Eye Balm

Night
Kiehl's Foaming Non-Detergent Washable Cleanser
Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner
La Roche Posay Effaclair K
Clinique Youth Surge Night
Kiehl's Abyssine+ Eye Cream

Very easy, cheap and effective:

Morning:
swipe face with rose-water/glycerine solution
Shiseido sunscreen

Night:
OCM with grapeseed oil
swipe face with rose-water/glycerine solution

Told you it's easy!

A few times a week:
exfoliate with baking soda.
clay masque
massage with Weleda cold cream

Can I ask a question to those who use baking soda + water on their faces? I hope this is the right thread

How do you use it? I've seen people use it so differently.. some every day and others a few times a week.. and some leave it on for a minute while others leave it on for 10+

What's ideal?

and also, is it best to just apply it regularly or is it better to rub it in?

saann, I've never heard of baking soda and water but I have used aspirin mixed with water and it's a good, cheap facial. Just pulverize the aspirin, mix with water to form a paste and apply. It's great for exfoliating the skin.
