Your Favorite Dior Show

Haute Couture for F/W 2004. It truly holds it's place in my heart as the most amazing fashion show because it was the first one that I saw. The yards of fabric, the beautiful, gigantic dresses-- it was so beautiful and it made me fall in love with fashion and that's why I have such a desire for it anymore. I realized so much beauty and art in clothing, it was so perfect to me.

I every single show that Galliano staged throughout the last 10 years of his career with Dior ... he's a true wunderkind and no one can emulate that unless he/she has a great and natural talent to create something bombastic and out of this world ...

My favorite Dior show was SS05 RTW. The collection i loved, the different sections. The music i really loved i still listen to that show that someone sent to me.

I love all Dior's recent collections. I enjoy seeing the haute couture ones most.

The first three pictures are of the summer 2007 Haute Couture show, the last two are pictures of the Autumn/Winter 2007/2008 show..

I recently have become really obsessed with Dior RTW SS 05 (sure, there were plenty of outfits in the Barbie section that were really tasteless, but it was all in good fun!).

Anyway, in particular, I've really fallen in love with the Biba section. There is something really poignant about it that you don't really get from fashion shows very often. I think what makes it so emotional is, one, the gorgeous "Imagine" medley and, two, the anti-war connotations. It's been over 3 years and the "Dior for Peace!" and "Dior, Not War!" slogans are still as pertinent and still as touching. I know this sounds silly, but it makes me want to do something good for the world!

Anyone familiar with the Spanish mag Lecturas? It's full pages of runway photos. Digging thru my closet the other night came across one with Gisele on the cover and it's from '99...there are 10 pages of the Dior HC show from Versailles, the Matrix/Gladiator/Dead-Animals on Heads/Shotguns collection...

Let me tell you that my dvd has been such a blessing...I watch it all the time and I am still in awe and reminiscing (sp?) when I watch it....it makes me wish so badly that he'd put up another Passionate show with a capital P in July just like he did in those days...I miss those shows

as soon as i saw Ai's dress, i knew i was in love. yes, the shoes got awfully chunky towards the end, the unfinished pieces were a bit , but overall, it was just gorgeous.

the magic was in the simplicity of things. it's not minimal, definitely not, but in its elements, it's a very simple collection. it's easily relatable, there's no huge SHOW behind those pieces. you don't have to dissect the collection, it's right here and it's standing strong. no need for cover ups, make up. it's the Dior i fell in love with.

^^I agree...I felt like that period of Dior was the perfect mix of marketability and excitement. The show was, in essence, simple (compared to several collections prior to SS 06)...and yet...it was so dramatic, so youthful and energetic, so graphic, so modern and contemporary, just...so Dior.

Nowadays, Dior is "wearable" (although "wearability" is a questionable word because I can't imagine people really wanting to wear some of the most recent Dior stuff!!!)...but the excitement, relevance and life has gone missing.

^clearly it is wearable cause appearantly, current Dior stuff sells. and even France's First Lady wears Dior these days.

i just miss the old eye catching pieces. yes, some were really too "out there" for me, but it was Dior, it was recognizable. the latest collections.... i mean, i've seen some S/S08 pieces on red carpets but i didnt realize it was Dior til i checked the caption.

Thanks for that video diorcouture, now I love that collection even more.

I do miss the bygone days of dior, the campaigns were better and more colorful, the shows were more entertaining, the clothing was cooler.
