Ralph Lauren
he's consistant
and he's the only designer i'll spend $500 on a belt for.

I like Ralph Laurens stuff too, just not the pony pictures on them I hate those.

I dont have one.

Chanel, she was a genius, she redefined femininity and proved women could do whatever they wanted.

Gaultier, he took Chanels obsession with Masculinity/Femininity to the next level and mixed it with his wit.

Dior, he was absurdly brilliant, he constantly reinvented himself and pushed fashion forward. The A & Y lines he created are classic.

McQueen, he turns the macabre into the beautiful and mixes it with mind bending technique.

That's only Polo.

As with anything I have a much longer list of people I don't like, probably starting with Coco Chanel, the godmother of Tom Fordism. In fact I don't really like any top fashion designers all that much...

I have quite a list:

Ann Demeulemeester
Carol Christian Poell
Hedi Slimane
Naoki Takizawa
Issey Miyake
Helmut Lang
Masaki Matsushima
Raf Simons
Yohji Yamamoto
Rick Owens
Jens Laugesen
Junya Watanabe
Rei Kawakubo
Maurizio Altieri
Alexandre Plokhov
Spastor

But, I'd top it with Ann Demeulemeester, Carol Christian Poell, Rick Owens and Yohji Yamamoto. It's hard to decide which one of all that list I would top it with. I am also a big fan of Hedi but he's been mediocre as of late.

Christian Lacroix...it is so whimsical and lush. Lovely.

And Chanel, because black and white classy lace outfits rock.

karl lagerfeld: ultra-modernist (thus, kistchy), has a total understanding of fashion, he's a master of couture, and he never forgets sexyness... i love his take on the heritage of chanel, his sleek, mostly menswear inspired designs of his own label, and the ultra high kitsch factor of his collections at fendi (so creative) ... my favorite collection of his is fendi's f/w 2003 sci-fi leather and fur extravaganza...

Phoebe Philo. He clothes are feminine and sexy but not vulgar or over the top. I am not a fan of flashy clothes or the avant garde.

Carole Christian Poell, Comme des Garcons, and Heatherette are my three all time favorite labels. I love all of the above because they are cool and move the world forward. Mostly I love Carole Christian Poell because his pants give me a great ***.

Ann Demeulemeester and Carol Christian Poell.

I love Ann for the romanticism, darkness, and poetry I see in her work. It just really speaks to me like no other.

I love Carol for the cold, harsh, often scary "realness" of his work. The feelings I get when looking at his designs are something I can't exactly describe.

And to add a third, I loved Hedi Slimane's collection for F/W 03 Dior Homme, a.k.a. the Luster collection. It's just magical to me. I mention that specific collection because the rest of his work doesn't always do much for me.

Wow. It looks as if she doesn't have hands or elbows, and as if the arms were sew onto the jacket. Im guessing Karlie did this on purpose.

I really like Hedi Slimane, and think Galliano's shows are brilliant and totally inspired, I think Tom Ford is amazingly cool and a great designer...

But in the end, its all about Karl Lagerfeld. I grew up watching him bat his stupid little fan and think he's the bee's knees.

it doesnt matter who the designer is, 500 dollars for a belt is a crime.

Cool, first post in an all-time favourite topic.

In terms of today´s fashion designers, mine have to be the following:

- Hédi Slimane (a personal favourite, because he cuts exactly for my stature, thus I´d follow him almost everywhere if it´s skinny and tailored, plus I love all the high-tech glossy tux fabrics)

- Helmut Lang (the sole defender of modernism, never one to go into an obvious reference, I´m anxiously waiting for his return)

- Olivier Theyskens (what he does to Rochas is simply stunning, almost provocatively sober and completely against what is happening on the street, love the fabrics, the cut, silhouette and imagery, it´s so gentle and fragile)

- Yohji Yamamoto (I cannot agree with his oversized menswear but his womenswear has always been stunning until lately, his s/s 1999 sums up everything I love about him, so purely genius)

- Hamish Morrow (absolutely a stand-out from the London fashion crowd, he knowns a thing or two about sophisticated cutting techniques, it´s definitely experimental and avant-garde but always complements the (female) body, he´s gonna be HUGE when he comes back to the runways)

- Stephan Schneider (stands out from my other favourites, he´s the one I´m coming back to every season for wearable but relevant clothes for daily wear when I´m sick of dressing sophisticated all the time. plus he´s a very good friend so that every garment has a personal relation for me)

designers to watch carefully in the future:

- Nicolas Andreas Taralis
- Proenza Schouler
- Sophia Kokosalaki
- Bruno Pieters
- Boudicca
- PHI

Alexander McQueen

HE's innovative and passionate and he works with Bjork. And I love his clothes! ^_^

It changes all the time, but at the moment; Swedish designer Filippa K (http://filippak.com) because they have such a clean and sleek style that can be paired with anything. I have two gorgeous tops from Filippa K and two gorgeous boot cut pair of jeans from there.
